I'm going to collect my new C220 Cdi at the end of this month and I have been offered a Brabus D3(ii) unit at a greatly reduced price.

1. Will this unit work on my car W204?
2. I understand that both the Brabus unit and MB themselves warranty this unit but I also believe that the gearbox is rated to a tolerance. Will this unit cause harm to my gearbox or any other parts of my car and if it does, who is liable for this?

Any other advice, concerns or experiences welcomed.

Regards,

Hi-Ho Silver.

PS: I'm selling my CLK230K for £3,000(open to offers), if anyone is interested.

I'm looking to buy a Brabus D6 (iii) for my E320CDi... if you can get a cheap deal on Brabus units... let me know please :)

The simplest way to get accurate answers about the units suitability and warranty is to ask [email protected]

He's very helpful.

I can't see a D3 (ii) on their website which might indicate it's obsolete, hence the price.

I know there are some D6(iii) around that my dealer describes as old stock so perhaps it's the same logic.

@tazco - I'd like to be in a position to help you but this is a chance one-off from someone I just happened to meet who had one for sale. As I understand it, you'd have to buy one through a MB dealership or from Brabus due to warranty etc. Check that though as i'm really not that well informed on this.

Many thanks John. I've found Markus' name mentioned several times and I was planning on mailing him on Monday about this. Just thought i'd do a little research myself, as I find it pays to do so. Not to denegrate MB or Brabus but sometimes other people's experiences can be a mine of information.

Still open to discussion.

Thanks... I plan to pop into a couple of dealers and see if they have got some old stock!!

John. The more I read about experiences such as the one you posted a link to, the more I think i'd rather do without having to argue the toss with a person who is trying to be helpful and reasonable except that 'the system' won't allow it. Brabus Certificates should be held on the MB service database, along with all other pertinent documentation. Is that really such a massive leap of rationale to ask for?

Again, many thanks. It's all food for thought...and discussion, especially if it limits the potential lifetime of my new cars engine!

Hi-Ho Silver.
