Brabus D6
Well I've gone an bought ML Brabus D6, I must admit the thought of buying a Mercedes didn't cross my mind until I came across this and my wife basically fell in love with it, can anyone give me any background on Brabus, would this car have left Mercedes as a standard vehicle and then visited another factory or is this another arm like AMG?

If it's a UK vehicle it will probably have had the Brabus parts fitted by a MB dealer, with parts selected by the owner from a catalogue.
That's how it works in the UK.

However, there are other alternatives:

It could be an ML modifed at Brabus in Germany - rare in this country.

It could be an ML with Brabus parts bought off ebay (or similar) and fitted by anyone.

Mine was fitted with it's Brabus parts when new, at PDI, by Mercedes Nottingham, specified by the original purchaser.

I was able to establish this having found out who the supplying dealer was - you will be able to do the same.

I hope this helps.

As far as I can ascertain the car (2010) and all the Brabus gear was fitted in Germany, I have all the paper work which is in German and was imported as a Brabus, thus all the hassle I have had with insurance

Can't you declare it as an imported ML350CDI then say it's had the bodykit, wheels, suspension, exhaust, tuning box etc fitted as that's essentially what it is?

Can you post some pictures please - Photobucket will let you post large, not thumbnails.

What does the V5 say?

Hello John, many thanks for the link-I certainly understand more about Brabus-maybe the closest thing I can compare it to is BMW's Alpina-anyway the V5 says Mercedes
and underneath that B and then some numbers, I don't have the documents to hand as I am in Egypt at the moment so cant post any pictures as yet

If it is a 'Brabus' car , will it not have Brabus badges in place of the mercedes star on the boot ?

I remember Ian telling us that with regards to what is a 'true' Brabus car and what isn't.

Brabus is apparently considered a car manufacturer in its own right , so if it has come from the Brabus factory it could concievably be a Brabus , but is more likely to be a stock ML with a tuning box and some bits of kit.

Presumably it is an ML320CDI ?

Just to complicate things, the catalogue offers a comprehensive list of Brabus parts, including badges to replace the Merc ones, wheels, pipes, etc.

The original supplying dealer will have the answers, from the VIN number.

Hello Howard, the only Mercedes badge is on the grill, it has Brabus badges on the bonnet and boot lid so if you are correct I suppose it is a genuine one

If it is a factory made Brabus it will say so on the log book (V5). I'm not that sure that Brabus make a diesel.

I'll tell you for definite if you can give me details on the car (year, mileage and price). We'll be able to tell from that.

The car was advertised for 35K it has done 20K miles so a bit higher than average, I spoke to the original garage who PDI'd the car and it was originally a ML320 CDI, it is a 2010 plate

Sounds very much a stock ML320 CDi with Brabus tuning box and badges added by a dealer. Plus any other "bits". Photos will help when you're able.
