Brain dead

It's probably a customer car. New CLA was probably from the dealership following the spanner man in case anything went wrong.

As if anything could with such a sensible set up.

At least he has 4" between the dash and the bonnet to see where he's going...

If that was a garage employee driving he should be sacked .

Bonnet catch broke on a friends Toyota at 70 mph, the bonnet flew up and open and smashed the windscreen.

The forces on that E class bonnet hinges whilst moving along must be huge. Lucky it wasn't damaged.

Pretty common occurrence. Owners not shutting the bonnet completely so that it is just on the safety catch. When it happens on MBs it usually smashes a good portion of the roof, including the glass sunroof if you have one fitted. It can write the car off.

Stupidity at its greatest...

BBC News - Car driven with bonnet up on A31 in Hampshire

Guy caught driving along the A31 with the bonnet up on his W212 E-Class

Now, if the bonnet latch isn't secure my car goes ape, beeping with the cluster lit up red and flashing so how the guy didn't realise is beyond me, that and the fact that you can't see anything but your bonnet in front of you!

Some people just shouldn't be allowed on the road.

As soon as he was finished on the phone he probably stopped and shut the bonnet!

Registration HK11 WGF clearly visible on film.

Happened to my dad in his brand new granada, at around 90. No forward visibility through the windscreen! Lots of damage....

Dealer said it was his fault, until several others had the same problem.

Bonnet would flex slightly at 90+mph, just enough to release the primary catch, and open with enough force to force the secondary...

Already been a thread about this, but yeah what a flaming idiot!
