The C320 in for a service and pre-MOT check today, there have been advisories on the last two MOT tests relating to brake pipe corrosion and this time I have been told that it will not pass without replacement.

I have been quoted 6 hours labour, does his sound like a reasonable time? There was talk of needing to possibly drop the rear suspension in addition the fuel tank.

Thanks.

If its be re piped as per factory then 6hours is well under book time so I would take them up.
Front to rear pipe is fuel tank out. This is extremely labour intensive on a 203

Most will route it a different way to save time and money. It was easy for the factory to do it that way as the tank was out, not so easy to replace!

it will probably last, lots of cars will get brake pipe corrosion on advisory, its just surface rust, I know u may not want to chance it for safety reasons, take a look underneath and see if it will sand down (gently), and then paint over it.

I have no time to do this so it will go in for replacement.

Just to update:

Had the centre and rear pipes replaced by my MB indie, total labour was 8.5 hours.

The pipes that were taken off did have very heavy corrosion with part of the outer skin bubbled up and flaking so they did need replacing.

Total cost with parts, labour and VAT came to £599.99.
