something ive noticed on my new to me 2012 C204 coupe, the first drive in the morning when i gently start to brake it slows down as normal and then it grabs for a second like ive pressed the pedal harder, it'll do this maybe twice and then its normal, anyone come across this ? looking at the brakes it looks like they've had some work, the disc's are in great condition and all the callipers have been painter up nice.

warped disc?
nope, the disc's are practically new, if they where warped it would do it all the time.
it like a piston is very slightly sticking and when you gently brake the piston shoots forward and grabs the disc, only does it once or twice in the morning but the rest of the day its fine.
the callipers all look like new (been cleaned and painted) by the garage i bought it off, it could be just a bit of paint on the sliders ?
its really not an issue its just something ive noticed.

Does your departure involve shunting or do you as good as drive off in a forward direction?

I back off my drive then drive forward, its then the first and second junctions it does it, sometimes the third then its fine.

I have to do some shunting to leave my drive and the first few halts can be brutal no matter how delicate I am with the pedal. Wholly worse when the weather is wet and cold, it's just 'cold grabby' brakes in my case. The next braking is merely to slow (not halt) and by then the grabbing is reduced to the point of being scarcely noticeable.
Similar behaviour to yours?

yeah does sound the same as mine !!! don't think its an issue as the brakes are good.

That can sometimes happen if the pads don't have much chamfer on the leading and trailing pad edges.

the front disc's look new and all the callipers have been referb'd and painted so I assume the pads are new. after a mile or two they are as normal.

It's the new pads that sometimes need extra chamfer to stop the sharp edges of the pads digging in and grabbing... they don't need it after they bed in. Not saying this is the issue in your case..but I've seen it with cheap pads.
