Hi All,

My rear pads on E250 are looking low (no indicator yet) I'm thinking of changing them myself. I've read they have a brake wear sensor fitted. Looking online it's a bit confusing some info says one sensor only on each axle other info says one on each wheel?
Anyway as the sensor hasn't activated yet can they be reused or do new ones need fitting?

Thanks

You can re-use them if they are not worn. Some brake pads may come with the sensors. If you take the wheel off the car you should be able to see if there is a sensor on both sides or not. I can check on EPC or hopefully someone who knows this car better than I do can give you a definitive answer.

The sensors don't come off easily, and you are likely to damage it while trying to remove it from the old break pad. You are better-off preparing a new one, they are fairly cheap and can be after-market (ultimately it's only a piece of wire).

Our A210s and CLKs only have them on front and rear on the offside.

if youre lucky and careful you can pull the old ones from the pad . and reuse . be aware of the small metal spring clip that sits on the edge , dont lose it ...

They are less than a tenner, I'd always replace them when changing the pads, they can corrode inside the pad and can get damaged when being pulled out.

My E250 has 1 sensor on the front and 1 on the rear pads.

If you buy your pads from MB they include the sensor usually. I got my fronts from MB Southend and they were cheaper than MB Edinburgh and Newcastle!

When i had my fronts done, according to the VIN I only had one wear sensor, so the garage ordered 1 replacement. On removing the pads the garage found two, luckily were able to re-use one of the old ones.

When I changed my rear pads I discovered that no wear indicators were fitted to the pads. The fronts just have one fitted to the off side pads.

When I drove W210s, I always bought pads from MB of Oxford.
I always had to buy the sensors separately.
They were never included.
Removing them from the old pads is often difficult.
Not surprising where they are positioned and the length of time they are fitted.
They are not expensive.
I would always replace.
