Brand New CyberTruck - Rusting!

But I admire what Elon Musk achieved (a massive kick up the back side of several 100+ years old automotive giants) and I wish him and Tesla all the success in the world - they deserve it.

He might be a 'genius' but not to sure if he has a viable plan for Tesla cars.

Tesla is there to serve Musk's vanity, no more no less. When the time comes he will chuck it under the bus without a second thought to the shareholders, the workers or the customers. It will most likely be for some childish reason.

I agree his vision got it where it is today but I think some other more grounded visionary should take the reins and let him poodle off to play with his rockets.

I would just like to point out that the area on the windscreen or a product of Dairylea, can not legally be described as a triangle with one side formed by the arc of a radius.🤣😂
Now, the area around Bermuda has every right to call itself the triangle of doom....😇
The Bermuda Triangle is a 0.5 to 1.5 million square mile region of the North Atlantic bounded by Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Miami.

This "Triangle of Doom" is alleged to have destroyed hundreds of ships and planes without a trace,
but in reality ships don't disappear any more often in that "Triangle" than in any other comparable part of the Atlantic.

Sensationalist term? What are you on about. If anything it is a comedic term used to describe the unswept screen area due to poor windscreen wiper design.
Oh I don’t know, the word “doom” just doesn’t seem to fit with there being water droplets on the extremities of the windscreen. Until you explained that it was a comedic term I wrongly assumed “doom” meant death, destruction or some other terrible fate.

Par for the course that the EV evangelists who consider anything Musk related to be beyond reproach get defensive. :p
I don’t like to make assumptions because they are often wrong, however because your comment was a reply to me then I think that you are suggesting that I might be an EV evangelist and Musk fan boi.

If you were, then you are comedically wrong.

Note how this UK-spec RHD car still has LHD wipers:

No idea how Renault got away with this 'penny pinching' idea, it should have been illegal for them to do that.
If I remember right the field of vision is defined as an area of specific dimensions ahead of the driver and above the steering wheel.

As long as that area is included in the sweep of the wipers, then that’s all that matters, areas outside of this can remain unswept and remain legal.

Renault would have known this and decided that it was “enough”, without the expense of reengineering the car.

It’s quite common on cars from several manufacturers, especially when transported by rail. If that’s what it is then it’s easily sorted.
Having watched some of the video, I don’t think it’s metallic fallout, it looks too big for that but the video doesn’t get too close (or at least the bit I watched didn’t).

Most likely because it’s a non-issue but YouTubers/Newspapers will milk the ‘click bait’.
I'm sure there's an element of sensationalism and click bait to the story. Whether it's a real issue or not, I don't know as I don't have enough information to make a judgement, BUT...

There really are a myriad of reasons why the automotive industry doesn't use natural finish stainless steel for body panels. Have Tesla resolve all those issues? Doubtful, IMO. However, as it's Tesla that's done it there will be two vocal camps shouting at each other through their social media megaphones that it's either the best thing since sliced bread, or it's an unmitigated disaster. And while neither extreme view is likely to be right, it's free advertising.

One thing that is certain is that due to the design of the front end we'll never see them sold in Europe as there isn't a cat in hell's chance of them passing Euro crash reg's, in particular those relating to pedestrian impact.

You mean unlike every other mega-corporation in America.....? I.e., all the others are led my charitable, kind, compassionate, selfless and ego-less people, who will never put their own needs and wants ahead of those of shareholders, the workers or the customers, right.....? :D

Yes, and just perhaps the Cyber Truck is perfectly rational and good looking vehicle....:dk:😂🤣

The Cybertruck is not more and not less rational than the monstrous Hammer H2...:

And yet people buy them in droves... in America, that is.

I suppose we'll never understand that, just as they'll never understand why we drink IPA.

Oops... it's a Mercedes-Benz.... of course it's not irrational, big, or ugly.... no, it's a must-have for navigating the streets and mews behind the Dorchester.....

Here's an old joke [adult content warning]

Man in the pub ranting:

"Pete over there ran over three squirrels so far. Do they call him 'Pete the squirrel killer'? No they do not".

"His mate Kev regularly drinks his beer warm. Do they call him 'Kev the piss drinker'? No Sir they do not"

"But s--k a c--k once.........................."

I would like to see Tesla do even better in the real world with a bit of variety and sensible forward planning they really could beat the established brands and China

Musk is different to the rest. I don't think he's bothered in the slightest about money it's just a means to an end. The others may also be self serving ego maniacs with no scruples, morals whatever but least they .uck people over for reason but Musk does it just because he's a spoilt child with no understanding of cutting off his own nose to spite his face !!!

Now, now.... careful ! There's someone not too far away who sold his very expensive G55 partly because of its fuel consumption ( 15mpg )

He got a much more sensible SL63 instead.

He wouldn't be looking quite so smug in his leather strides if he was trying to get that into the short-term parking at Gatwick. :)

Yes, a pedestrian is likely to come off second best if hit by that thing, but my own observation is that there are far fewer pedestrians than drivers in the States. They seem to get in the car just to go somewhere, well...just across the road.
I'd be more worried about being eaten by the frunk if the clip I saw is anything to go by. It seemed to be going up and down at random and trying to bite those around it.....

...and the earlier Mk 2 Golfs had LHD wipers on RHD cars.... and a few others.
