Hey all,

So the time has come to replace the rear discs on my W212.

When ordering parts I found that MB could supply discs, pads and the wear sensor for £137 delivered...

I then had a look at ECP and with offers I can get Brembo discs, pads and a Bosch wear sensor for £82 all in.

I normally just order everything from Mb but on this occasion the £50 saved could be better spend elsewhere! Brembo are supposed to be pretty good aren’t they? ;)

What would you do? :D

Brembo and Bosch are as good as they come and likely make the parts for Mercedes. I certainly wouldn’t expect the quality to be lacking. Perhaps your dealer could price match, or close the gap if you would prefer to use Mercedes parts.

i fitted Brembo discs with ATE ceramic pads, which I got from ECP for £103.48 in Sept 2018. No problems whatsoever, easy to fit and more or less zero dust.
Just had MoT today and brake efficiency test came out at 82% - the pass is 50%.

I also have brembo discs and EBC redstuff pads on the front again with zero issues and minimal dust

Thanks guys!

ATE discs are £2 extra... hmm Brembo or ATE :D:D:D:D:D:p:p:p:p

Abs, I once fitted a set of discs and pads onto my red 964, they are Brembos oem (but with Porsche on the outside, Brembos on the inside casting) but to buy the parts in Porsche logo'd boxes compared to Brembos boxes was about a third more.
.. Nuff said ;)

Another shout for Brembo and any thing other than dusty OE / OEM .

Brembo discs have a durable hub and outer disc paint too .

+1 for Brembo. Have fitted to nearly every car in the family

I fully agree with using quality non MB parts but to put the MOT pass mark into perspective a car that can only just beat 50% is in dire need of better brakes even if it passes. In other words 50% is a really low and outdated pass mark. 80% plus is what every car should achieve.

The braking part of the highway code stopping distance is based on 68% efficiency.

Thanks all, just ordered Brembo rear discs/pads and sensor from AUTODOC. All in it came to £69.05 all in Bargain!!!! :)

Genuine MB is around £138 so pretty much double! Brembo all the way

Be prepared to file some of the paint off the sides of the brake pads Abs.
It had to be done on mine to ensure a loose fit inside the caliper.
Oh, and Brembo pads are just as dusty as OE:(
You need ceramic pads like Redstuff or Akebono for reduced dust braking.

I’ll leave that to my indie Rog, don’t trust myself to work on the braking system :)

Thanks for letting me know though I will let them know, hopefully mine won’t need filing though. I haven’t read of this being a common occurrence?

Haha, no Ed I can barely just do some basic jobs! This will be a job (among many) where I will be opening my wallet up :D

I wish I could wait till the trip up to Inverness but unfortunately the MOT is due in April. Appreciate the offer though. The current discs should pass but I don’t want any advisories (I’m weird I know ;))

New brakes soon .

And soon maybe I'll be able to put a manufacturer name to the dog poo dusty mother... OE pads .

Washing wheels twice a week , low mileage , FFS .

Have the leaks on your 651 been sorted btw?

How long have you got ?

Thanks for asking BTW ;)
