A glimmer of hope, although the article is now a week old and there do not seem to have been any further announcements yet...

Bristol Cars could be sold within days, as the administrators are in exclusive talks with one bidder, CAR has learned.

Several parties expressed an interest in the failed car maker, which collapsed into administration on 3 March 2011. Recovery specialist RSM Tenon is handling the sale and has reported a flurry of interest in Bristol Cars.

'Negotiations are ongoing and we have now settled on exclusive talks with one party,' a spokeswoman told CAR. 'It is difficult to tell how long the next stage will be, as these deals can be very complex and time-consuming.'

Many quality makers have fallen. Alvis...

Don't think it's been mentioned on the forum yet, but Alvis have recently made a tentative comeback, by way of the well-established Red Triangle spares business.

They are looking to hand-build around three 4.3 litre models per year to order, using the original technical drawings.

Wonderful! I wish they would start doing some Graber bodied TD & TE 21s too. Exquisite cars.

I was going to add that I would like to see the TD series re-enter production as well, but thought it might be tempting fate. The good news is that all the original drawings survive, so if this venture proves successful, there no reason, in theory at least, why other models should not follow.

That's great news if it goes ahead.

Indeed it has, with an interesting Frazer-Nash connection:

Bristol Cars, which went into administration last month, has been acquired by Kamkorp Autokraft, part of the Frazer-Nash group.

Frazer-Nash Research Limited is a Surrey-based research and development company specialising in hybrid and electric powertrains. The new deal, which sees Kamkorp take control of the assets and goodwill of the luxury car maker, is said to re-establish a connection between Fraser-Nash and Bristol Cars dating back to the foundation of the latter in 1946.

William Chia, director of operations at Swiss company Kamport, said: "Bristol Cars is a British institution and an important part of our national motoring heritage. Over the next few months we will start to reveal the details of our plans to combine Bristol Cars' tradition and iconic marque with Frazer-Nash's pioneering technology to showcase our cutting-edge electric and range-extended powertrains.

"British engineers are globally recognised for their inventions and the quality of their innovation – and these attributes are inherent in all our systems and products. Mindful of Bristol Cars' rich heritage and our responsibility as custodians of the brand, we are certain that our technology will blend seamlessly and successfully with the Bristol Cars tradition of engineering integrity.

"Owners and enthusiasts of the cars should be assured that, even though these are early days in our tenure of the brand, we are committed to providing them and their cars with the highest levels of quality, technology and service".

How do they get around NCAP testing etc for the limited hand built productions??

Was asked this the other day and I was stumped :dk:

EuroNCAP is only a consumer test, rather than a legislative test. So EuroNCAP only buy and test cars that sell in significant numbers.
