I trundled down to Brooklands yesterday because I heard that there would be some cars there earlier that morning, and I only live about 15 mins away.

Anyway, a lot of nice cars down there. I was suprised just how many people brought the cars down. Saw quite a few MBs down there not sure what cars are from here and what aren't but there was a lovely old Mercedes 7 seater Estate in white, must be the coolest thing I've seen in ages!

Anyone else have a nice wander around?

It was in the car but I didn't take it out with me because I didn't think there would be that many cars there, in hindsight I wish I had done.

Plus I'm selling it so I didn't want to risk damaging it. I'll be camera-less for a couple of months. :(
But I'll get a EOS 7D before long I hope!

Didn't know there was anything on, I could have popped over in the SL.

I was invited via e-mail by an official of the authorised Mercedes club to a meet there on N/Year day.

There was an S600 W140 that I recognise from this forum there.

Yes it was mine. We (the official club) go every year to this meeting and there was 47 club members cars there.
It is a good day with many car clubs meeting up, probably a thousand or so cars in total.

We were over there today and I picked up a leaflet for "the" club ... may join up.

I was at Brooklands on New Years Day, Ray I can't believe I missed you !

Cold outside, wasn't it!

We followed a silver 56 plate E Class estate on the way in ... the tailgate was rusting above the number plate

Aye, I was inside though on the coffee! I saw the C63 estate from here in the car park the other day 63204.

That rust must have been a bodged repair surely !!

It's almost worth it for the National SL Day alone, Bill!

Nicest C class I've ever seen. Could've cleaned it though :)

yeah...but it was still about -2 and I couldn't find a water supply. They didn't volunteer to wash it for me either.

the straight line skid area was pretty impressive. it really showed how the ESP and that stuff works. It was amusing heading down it at 30mph, standing on the brakes and all that appeared to happen was the belts tightened up and the pulse on the brake pedal. took ages to stop.

the wet circle was closed while I was there, the safety area outside it was too icy. oh well. it would be a good excuse to go back and have another go.
