Bulb defective

Got my new toy home today, its a beautiful clk 320 , but on the way home dash display goes bulb defective, checked all lights all seem fine. Any ideas ?

Have purchased replacement bulbs from Halfords which appear to be identical to the defective bulbs. The bulb did their job okay by coming on when needed but the defective light indicator on the dash was still showing a defect. I later replaced the Halford's bulbs with some from a stealership. The bulbs also worked and guess what? The defective light on the dash was extinguished!

Do stealership bulbs have some sort of intelligence?

Have the car running with no lights on then check the brake lights, next go through all the lights options but leave a few seconds between each operation.
When the failure light comes on you have found the defective lamp set. go around the car and check, including fog lights and number plate lights.

Also check the indicator wing repeaters. When one of those blows, the indicators will still flash at the normal rate. Unlike when a corner bulb blows and they flash at twice the rate.
