Hi all
I`m looking to buy a C220 auto estate My budget is around £8000 so I was thinking around 2005 to 2007 I would like top of the range with lots of toys. What model should I be looking for? and are there any faults I should be looking for,and what mileage are these good for as most I have seen advertised are over 100000 miles. I have noticed you all use diferent model codes on the forum what is the code for the C220 estate?
Thank you in advance

I have a Diamond Black W203 C220CDI Estate, Avantagrde SE, Auto, with Sport Pack, 2006. It's covered 37,000 miles, so can't comment on the full life expectancy. I've never had any problems what so ever, so would highly recommend this model. I use to have it serviced and MOT'd at the local dealer, now use a very good local indy (124Works). Other than the spec above there wasn't any extras as such, but this is a good starting point (Avantgarde + Sport Pack). I've added rear parking sensors and tinted the windows from the B pillar, also added headrest DVD players for the kids on long journeys (works well with the tints).
I considered adding Comand, but as this doesn't have Bluetooth and the Sat Nav doesn't work as well as a Tomtom so I didn't bother. Would still like bluetooth though, Comand Online have a couple that I'm considering.
MPG is good for this era of car, returning 45mpg on a run without trying too hard.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Hello and welcome. If you look close enough you'll find some with 200000+ miles. :)

The C Class Sept2000 through to May2007 is code W203 with a facelift in late 2004 as Paddcomp says. You may need to do a bit of searching for cars with the toys you want as model variant (Classic / Elegance / Avantgarde) don't all have all the optional extras. In other words, one Avantgarde or Elegance model may have hands free phone kit fitted, or sat-nav, etc., but these things and many more weren't a standard fitting on any variant.
There was even a choice of wheel sizes on most. I think the standard was 16", but my C Class saloon has 17" staggered wheels.
Good luck with the search and you should find a nice one with that budget. Just make sure it has FSH, preferably with MB.

Thanks for the advice guys, now for hours of trolling the net looking for the right one!

Don't discount the C270 W203 - the original 203 road tests considered the c220 a bit gutless and recommended the C270 (which is what I bought!). Still saw 45+mpg but had enough grunt when required.

As above, Elegance or Avantgard, leather, after that your choice, but Comand satnav in the 203 is NDG.

Yeh I thought about the C270 aswell but there does not seem to be as many about But If one with the right spec comes along I would go for it
ps Sorry for being ignorant, but what is NDG ?

I have owned a C220 cdi estate with sports pack for a couple of weeks and I have no complaints whatsoever. For the budget you got you should be able to get a late 2007/57 if you not put off by high mileage. It will be new shape too.
There are a few on autotrader. But avoid the ones with emails if using autotrader. Scammers!!!! And if it's too cheap it's also a scam.

but what is NDG ?

No **** Good. My 2008 S204 with Comand only has 5 digit postcode entry, which is a bit of a pain, just about every post I've seen about W203 Comand says a Tom Tom or similar is better value for money!
