Hi all,

I would like to replace the plastic door pins with something better quality.

I notice on the GLC or other vehicles there are OEM aluminium looking pins.

I’ve looked online and can only find either cheap and nasty replicas or AMG pins that are £50 each!

Is it possible to order the actual MB silver pins that would fit in a C class coupe? (C205).

Ideally OEM that look exactly like this (minus the ring around then base).

Does anyone know the size of these? Are they 9mm? Thanks

Hi,

I changed the pins on my 2016 C Class estate for the pins fitted to the current E Class. The E Class pins are as your picture shows. When ordering you need the aluminium look plastic cap and a black plastic holder. The cost for 4 from local dealers was from memory under £30. I only cleaned out the receipt a couple of weeks back so cannot help with part numbers.
Fitting can be done without removing doorcards. Unscrew the old pin with pliers, slot together the two parts of the new pins and screw down. Remember to put a cloth over the pins to prevent the plier jaws marking them.

Thanks a lot for the info.

I just called MB & it’s around £32 for 4. I’ve asked if they are the same on an E coupe as I only need 2! They are going to call me back with info tomorrow.

Cheers

So MB replied with the part numbers from this (£15 for 2) but said the door card needed to be removed to fit them.

That info doesn’t sound right given your message and what I’ve read elsewhere.

Any ideas why they would have said they had to be removed?

Thanks

Hi.
I didn’t have to remove my door cards.

Are you looking for what’s in the photo above? If so I’ve seen both the pins and surrounds on wish, very skeptical of quality however but you never know.

Have seen these on Ebay and have been tempted, however unsure on quality and fitment. If you make the purchase, would be great to update your thread with what you think once received.

I’ve ordered the parts I listed above for £15. Will update the thread after I pick them up and fit. Cheers

Ok so I went in armed with this info:

Easy peasy:

Guide for installation:

"Here is the trick that the MB master mechanic told me (and I can confirm that you need to do it this way). Connect both the door pin and clip together and then lock the door, next push the door pin/clip combo down as far as it goes... it will lock in place. If you attempt to screw down the black clip and then push the door pin over it (as designed), it will stick up too high."

This was the absolute worst advice ever.

I thought the pin had made contact with the rod, unfortunately I had not, and when I locked the door, the new pin vanished straight in the hole. The rod then got wedged under the trim so the door was permanently locked open.

I had to prise open the top trim to move the rod free and get it back in the hole.

Next came the door card removal to remove the new pin.

Following another YouTube video I got the pin out. Phew.

Lastly I just screwed in the new in while the door was unlocked.

Success!

This photo is in the locked position:

Don't let this experience put you off... just screw them in when the door is unlocked!

Bonus:

While picking up the pins at the dealer I went for a badge upgrade (0008171701) - matches the night package much better.
