C Class leasing price increases

I wonder if this is also caused by the new Mercedes sales model where no discounts are available because you are always buying from MB UK (the dealer just introduces you) (from 1st Jan).

Ie. I wonder if the lease companies are getting no discounts also.

May help all our residual values - Unlike recent Tesla 3 / Y buyers as Tesla did the opposite and slashed their prices by a huge amount.

Probably the plan to make them more premium / expensive.

Filter out the yobbo's owning a Mercedes like myself

I know you want a new one but cars lose so much in the 1st 3 years. Surely be better buying a 3 year old one with 20k miles.

Like it will still be new and drive like new
Only advantage in my eyes buying new is you can get the options one wants, but currently with the chip shortages, I am reading some options are not available, or missing at handover, so at this time may not be an advantage, the other advantage is getting to own a new car, but at a cost, but if one can afford it, then why not.

I have owned one new car in my life. Yeah it's nice picking it up at the show room but after a few weeks you are not too bothered anymore. They get the same car park dings and dents and cause you to be even more annoyed.

3 years later you no longer care 🤣

I can relate to that, I worry about dings, and am very careful with where I park, to avoid dings, and that’s on a used car, would possibly drive me mental on worrying about a NEW car.

I got a nice one the other day on the passenger door.

People annoy me

Some don’t give a toss about their cars, so what chance about others pride and joy.

However, even if you do specify the options that you want on the new car, these can be omitted without notice, and you will not get any financial compensation. And you can't even reject the car after taking delivery and driving it off the forecourt, i.e. in the event that you didn't spot the spec omissions. Strange but true. It happened to a few people on this forum, and to a colleague at work.

This has actually been explained to me by the VW dealer when I was looking for an ID.4 at the time, which is why I thought that buying a new car that has already been built and is physically in the UK was a much safer bet, and in my case I was very lucky to find an IONIQ 5 in stock with the exact spec I wanted, and so I signed the dotted line and took delivery 2 days later.

But in most cases, this is a trade-off between accepting the spec of a car in stock, or taking a chance and specifying the spec on a car that hasn't been built yet and hoping that it will materialise as ordered.

True, I guess I could always look into a 2 year old car however with the high prices of used cars at the moment, the last thing I'd want to do is overpay for a used car now then have it worth a lot less after the used car market has calmed down in 3 years. The loss may be so high by the time I sell it that I'd have probably felt I would have been better off losing an extra few thousand pounds on a brand new car car.

It's just a shame that Mercedes leasing prices are nearly double the equivalent BMW/Audi's at the moment, I guess I may just have to take the plunge and buy the car then hope I can sell it for a good price in 3 years, I should lose a lot less than £26k this way though, which is what I would have lost paying £700+ per month leasing it!

Is it worth paying the premium over and above the A4 or 3 series? I love Mercedes but I think the difference is lease costs you mention would sway me.

Nope you're right, I love C-Class too but it's definitely not worth paying £700+ when we can get a 3 series for £475. However, I was hoping that buying a new C-Class and selling it after 3 years would provide me with the same £475 monthly depreciation as a 3 series/A4 lease.

Haha great minds think alike, that was my next alternative. I think I will most likely be leasing that

Car parking spaces designed for a 1960's mini Coopers and the amount of SUV's on the roads today doesn't give much hope
I use door defenders, just keep them in the boot. Takes all the stress away and take seconds to put on when you park up. We have a pair for all our cars and not one door ding amongst them!

Leasing comparision between 1 series BM and "A" class MB show the same big difference in leasing rates.

Has anyone ever pulled or knocked them off?

No, they have a coated wire leash with a plastic ball on that you leave inside the car so they cant be stolen. Some people have commented they thought it was a wire for an alarm, so maybe why nobody has ever messed with them. Actually loads of people comment what a good idea they are but I’ve never seen anyone use them apart from me. I bought them for my Alfa originally as the flanks are prone to dings and the one I have now is immaculate so wanted to preserve it!
