C Class leasing price increases

No, they have a coated wire leash with a plastic ball on that you leave inside the car so they cant be stolen. Some people have commented they thought it was a wire for an alarm, so maybe why nobody has ever messed with them. Actually loads of people comment what a good idea they are but I’ve never seen anyone use them apart from me. I bought them for my Alfa originally as the flanks are prone to dings and the one I have now is immaculate so wanted to preserve it!
Have never seen those, silly question, but doesn’t the magnets damage the paintwork in any way,

No, they have a kind of padded microfibre backing. Of course you don’t want to slide them on the paintwork but if you just place them straight on they’re fine. I tend to give them a clean every now and then. Mine are more than 10 years old now and not caused any damage so far.

Car parking spaces designed for a 1960's mini Coopers and the amount of SUV's on the roads today doesn't give much hope
But it doesn't help when some driver's do not stop until the parking sensors are on full beep. This means their front bumper has gone way passed their space markings and almost touching your bumper when parking in a supermarket space aisle.

Then you have to move your car forward to get to the boot :wallbash:

True, I guess I could always look into a 2 year old car however with the high prices of used cars at the moment, the last thing I'd want to do is overpay for a used car now then have it worth a lot less after the used car market has calmed down in 3 years. The loss may be so high by the time I sell it that I'd have probably felt I would have been better off losing an extra few thousand pounds on a brand new car car.

It's just a shame that Mercedes leasing prices are nearly double the equivalent BMW/Audi's at the moment, I guess I may just have to take the plunge and buy the car then hope I can sell it for a good price in 3 years, I should lose a lot less than £26k this way though, which is what I would have lost paying £700+ per month leasing it!

its probably because you can still get decent discounts on BMW and Audi - The A4 being quite a old model now has almost £7k off list at £33k for a decently specified one and its not too hard to find the 3 series with a good discount too.

Ah that makes sense, as the C-Class is a new model which was just released last year wasn't it?

CLA shooting brake c200 new 2018 £33k sold it back to MB at 3 years old 28k miles for £15k so just over 50%

In normal times, is depreciation for normal cars around the 50% mark, or less ?

For normal cars, 50% depreciation from list price over 3 years and 36,000 miles was indeed a fair yardstick to use before the market went mad. Some did better, and some did worse.

In real terms even losing 50% isn’t so bad when you consider that firstly many normal cars were heavily discounted and so real world depreciation was less, and secondly VAT accounted for a large portion of it.

We bought my Father-in-Laws less-than 2-year old Vauxhall Omega 2.5 CD (V6 petrol) when he was part-exchanging it - we paid him what the dealer offered in PX. I believe that it was £24k (ish) new, and we paid him £5,400 ...in less than two years and 24k miles - now that's depreciation!!

It had lost more than 75% of it's list price in less than two years. Great car that was too.

It's all relative ,bought my W205 C250 back in 2018 , heavily discounted pre-facelift , £31,500 . Current WBAC £21,200 , a new W206 similar spec £55,000.
So is my depreciation £10,200 over 5 years or £33,800 over 5 years. MB offering £3,500 off current W206 which would reduce it to £30,300 over 5 years ??????????

No the depreciation would be relative to your car/model, not the next generation. You’r car has reduced in value by £10,300 but the depreciation percentage as tracked by the industry would be relative to the list price of your car at the time it was new.

It was on the forecourt for £15,999
What was wrong with it. Seems cheap even by todays prices

I paid 23k for a 67 plate on 48k miles. However it is pretty specced up. Never seen another with the same spec

EDIT = Just checked its a Sport thats what i get for assuming things 🤣

Yes it was a sport as that was the only manual 1 for the wife (she don't like auto)

We bought a new BMW 530 X Drive M Sport Touring in 2018, list price was 60k, dealer and BMW discount brought it down to 50k…….traded it in 2 years later and got 28k for it, lost 22k in two years😢

Interesting, how much would it have cost leasing for 2 years, would it have been 11k a year, bearing in mind interest rates were lower then they are now.

I’ve no doubt it would have been cheaper to lease, didn’t bother to look at the lease figures at the time as I always buy my cars.

Not a c class but the new glc. X254

Paid off the 12k balloon on my a class. Part exchanged it back to merc for £21.5k

Used that on the glc for 4 years.
454 a month
28050 balloon at the end.

Not great but the interest rates are awful atm.

So was that a £21.5k or a £9.5k deposit?
Is it a factory order or is the car in stock?
