C Class Sport Coupe
Hi All,
I don't know if you can help but I am looking to remove the rear bumper in order to retrofit parking aids.

Does anyone have any guides on how to remove the rear bumper on a 2008 C Class Sport Coupe.

It looks like there are two bolts under the bumper although I would assume there are others? Possibly under the bumper inserts - any advice would be welome.

Thanks,

Bob

Not the best of pics, but here is my recent purchase for the Mrs.

If you see closely, I reckon the top trim of the bumper where the sensors fit into may be able prise off carefully?

I would check/feel around this trim to see if it may be possible? It may save you having to take the whole bumper off?

But then again you may have to as feeding the wires through might prove tricky otherwise?

No need to remove the whole bumper, the three trim pieces are all you need to remove. From memory, remove one side piece first, I think there is a screw in the wheel arch. Then the long centre piece will come off. This middle piece already has markings for parking sensors so you dont need to measure the gaps...

Thanks azaman - I assume the fixing in the wing is behind the arch liner?

I think so - been a long time since I did this mod! Have a look in my album for a good place to mount the aftermarket display unit.

azaman - out of interest was yours the Maplin verson?

Did you not need to remove your bumper to fit then?

No my unit was an ebay jobby, only cost £25 and worked very well.

You definately do not neet to remove the bumper, just the 3 strips that run along the top of it. I routed the wires in behind the light cluster and powered the control unit from the reverse light 12v feed - simples

This is an easy DIY job as you dont have to remove anything major like the bumper.

Removing c180 coupe rear bumper

Just done this twice in the last week....expert now....! Under the rear wheel arch under the "felt" liner is a screw...not the larger bolt head one but an allen key type. Undo this then gently pull the middle bit of the bumper trio (right or left side, whichever ).....it pops out click by click........keep pulling gently till it meets the centre section and comes off completely. The centre (rear) section will then clip out in order to fit sensors etc. Refit after the job in reverse....all clicks back in then refit allen screw. I took off metal clip and slid it on after alignment before screwing in but you may not have to an bumper section might slot in without doing this.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but can anyone help with a question please? Does the middle strip not click off without taking the side ones off?

Hi,

I fitted an e bay jobie to my coupe last summer, simples m8.

You have to remove the side pieces first then the centre section, you'll be pleased to learn that the centre section is already marked on the inside for the correct location of the rear sensors. I then ran the cables to the drivers side & then through the rubber grommet into the boot area where the control unit is fitted taking the live feed from the reversing light feed cable. If you have a Bose system fitted you'll need to take the sub box out first which again is simple with a 8 or 10 mm socket, my bleeper is wired from the control unit and is wedged behind the drivers side card beneath the window. The whole job took me about an hour whilst the car was parked on the drive way

Thanks Dave, that's really useful - I'm gonna fit mine this weekend.
