First post !

I have a 2006 c-class with 100k miles ( all mine ) . Always fitted the MO spec Continental sport 2 tyres, which are now becoming more expensive each time I replace.
Any suggestions for other replacments - especially for rear where I get 15-18k.

size is 205/55/16

Thanks

Hi and welcome!

Although my C-Class is a W204, not a W203, it's on the same size tyres and I run Michelin Primacy HP's. The first set gave 22k on the rear and 32k on the front. Grip is good, and they're quiet.

I use those too. If you have access to Costco then their pricing is best when they have 20% off offers, but otherwise other places are similar prices.

Have a search here and on t'other side (Mercedes-Benz Owners' Forums) for W203 tyre recommendations. I did this a little while ago, 3 tyres were recommended by many : Kumho KU31, Falken FK452 and Vredestein Ultratrac 3. I put the Falkens all round on my C270 and am happy with them - same size as yours. Bought from Camskills, fitted by local MB indie, just over £60 per corner fitted.

What a friendly bunch - first time I have ever joined a forum and some great help already

Thanks

Tyres - Interesting question and informative for me too !! (C270 CDI W203).
I'll refer back to this when I needs some new boots.
Cheers.

I have a w204 C250 cdi B/E estate and it came with Contisport 3.
Tyre size at the back is 245/40/17. I have had it 11 months and done just under 10000 miles and they are almost down to the limit. I know the 250 has more power but the difference is incredible! Please tell me that you are the slowest driver in the world and that you never ever accelerate hard !!

I fitted two Goodyear Efficient Grips to the back of my W203 and saw a big improvement. You can get them off the Net through Kwik-Fit for £72 a corner and then pop along to your local K-F to get them fitted.

Other all season tyres to consider are the Hankook Optimo 4S (came top in Auto Bild's all season tyre test) and the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons.

I run Vredestein Quatrac3 myself and would recommend them.

What is the wear like on all weather tyres - I thought they had a pretty high wear rate though they would have to be pretty bad to do worse than my current ones. Also what is the grip like and can you have all weather on the back and conti 3s on the front??

They have quite acceptable wear rates comparable to summer tyres. They wont have the same ultimate dry road grip as a high performance summer tyre but in very wet or cold conditions will perform better due to their rubber mix. They will be slightly noisier than a summer tyre and tend to move about the road more due to their more open tread pattern but unless you are driving constantly "on the limit" their performance is fine. I would predict you can run an all weather tyre on the rears and conti 3 on the fronts OK but havn't tried that combo myself.

I was in the same situation when I last changed my tyres.... my 06 w203 has only done 34k so far. I replaced the original Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 tyres at 25k with Dunlop Sport Fast Response. Below is some of the info i collected at the time, which helped me make the decision.
