I've looked everywhere tried everything and all seems fine - can anyone please tell me what it is for and where it should go - the only writing it has on it is the mercedes page and >POM< 1 ?

Hi, not sure if you can see the attachment i sent with my post? - it's 6 cm long x 3cm wide with smal grooves on the inside on one side only.
Tks Parkie

Is it the handle from the seat fore / aft adjuster?

just googled the part number quoted no luck sorry ..but do agree about being a ratchet but the teeth look fresh and unused

Sorry missed the pax footwell bit. is it off one of the moving vents under dash?

Hmmm..nothing appears obvious though..is the vent right under the well? cheers parkie.

Guys - thanks for all your help....i've cracked it - after interigating the wife..she confessed that she had trouble closing the glove box and forced it closed!! - looking right underneath it appears to have come off the right hand side..not sure how it goes back in?..
once again..thanks all Parkie

It's a nightmare to get back on.

If you open your glovebox does it fall to the floor?

If so is the damping cog bit still affixed to the bulkhead as they often snap off?

If it is then you need to remove the glovebox, fit that piece over the damping cog with the nib on the ratchet facing you and close the glovebox ensuring a little hole in the glovebox lines up with the nib on that ratchet bit. Very fiddly and will probably take a lot of cursing to get it on but persevere.

If the damping cog is broken a whole new piece will need to be bought, only £8 at a dealer.

Let us know how you get on.
