C180 2004 - Unknown part found?

Just attempted to have a go but as i opened the glovebox - a small cog fell out - what would the cost be if i were to get this fixed properly as i'm not the best in DIY - Thanks Parkie

As I said parkie, this piece, damping cog is snapped from the bulkhead.

The part IIRC costs £8 and fitting should be no more that 5-10mins max. It is simple but fiddly.

One more thing, tell your wife not to push down on the glovebox!

hi there i saw the thread late, you're right its from the glove box i had the same problem, was in a rush and slammed the glove box shut, now the glove box drops down and drops out of place. it does not have the soft open action any more, it just drops down and i have to refit it if i forget to hold it, if you find the solution please let me know as i have been living wit the problem for about 6 months and dont fancy buying a new glovebox.

try a warranty job at your local mb dealer ....admit nothing and say its just not working dont show them the parts worth a try see what they say
