C180 Rear View Mirror

Hi There

I have to change the rear view mirror in my 1996 C180 as the red led has gone and is affecting the alarm. I have purchased one from ebay and was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the old one.

Pull down HARD!

Like Ollie says, pull down hard, but be prepared to stop as soon as it comes free. There are wires between the roof and the mirror and you don't want to break them.

When re-fitting there is a little spring clip which will engage in one of the spring pins (when compressed) and hold it back, making it much easier to re-fit.

Progress Report

All done thanks guy's and alarm and driver is now functioning properly. Thanks also to Stevesey for the info regarding the little clip as it did help in compressing the spring to aid replacing the mirror as it was a sod otherwise.

Agreed. Printed on really thin, poor quality paper with low-grade b&w photographs. Gone are the useful exploded diagrams and comprehensive wiring diagrams.

I know I'm showing my age but I had a mk 10 Jaguar (the fat one) back in the 60's and I still have the workshop manual. With the information inside you could build the car let alone repair it.......quantity not quality and made to a ever decreasing budget is the order of the day now unfortunately.
