Hi, I have a '96 petrol C200. Just recently I have experienced problems starting the car from cold. It always use to start first time, now it may start 2nd or 3rd attempt, or not at all. I have not had problems restarting the car when the engine is warm. I have checked the air filter, plugs, truncking and connections as far as I can.
I have an immobiliser fitted, the one one with the green and red lights fitted in the rear view mirror. Yesterday, when trying to leave from work, the car refused to start. I checked under the bonnet for signs of petol smells incase there was a leak. In the end, I had to disconnect the immobiliser several times and eventually the car started. The immobiliser lights continued to flas for several seconds after the engine started. The car ran faultlessly all the way home. Once in the driveway, I restarted the car with no problems.
The car is booked into the garage next week, but I would be grateful for any clues as to why this may be happening.
I have read on the forum about the "fuel pump relay or overvoltage relay" - is this a possibility? Is there a way to check these?
Thanks
Steve
