I can see available map updates dated 2016/2017
on the internet. A friend in the business told me that this
could be the last update that will be made available.
True or not? If not: Does anybody know of a release date
for "2018/2019"?

My vehicle has a telephone interface in the space between
the front seats. It seems that Mercedes is biased
towards Apple. I have not been able to find any
adapter for Android phones such as my Sony Xperia
Z5 Compact. It would have been nice to get a cradle
for this or perhaps some of my older Ericsson
phones that I have saved for "future use". Are there
any after market products that would provide
charging and antenna connection like the adapters
available for iPhones?

I will answer the question myself.
managed to find a disk set for 2017/18. Perhaps not the final one
as I have learned that Mercedes provides upgrade disks for some 10 years per model
after which they do not produce any more. Anyway, 2017/18 is better than
2009/10...

The (proper) update process was not described anywhere in the user manual
and I ran into some problems. Feeding disk #1 was no problem.
The update process started but I got a read
error after ~ 30%. I could eject the disk and insert it once again and the update
process went on from there. But when the Comand asked for disk #2 things
got complicated. I ejected disk #1 and tried to make the Comand read #2
which failed. Eventually, I inserted disk #1 into the 1st position in the 6-pack
exchanger and disk #2 in the second position. THEN the darned thing went
on with the updating. After what seemed an interglacial time the update
finished successfully.

The car was connected to a DC-supply. Some 10 Amperes into the battery
with the ignition in "1" position maintained a supply voltage of about 12.5V

Finding a suitable Mercedes cell-phone cradle for a Sony Xperia
Compact proved to be impossible. I settled for a Brodit cell phone
cradle with USB-charging connection and chosed a RHD version
with the mount in the right side of the dashboard
instead of a Left side version which normally sells in LHD countries like Sweden.
Some stupid at Brodit decided that they should should sell cradle mounts which
block the view to the Comand Display. What were they thinking of?
