Hi does any one know if there is an induction kit or panel filter available for my c220 cdi 2.1 AMG thanks

Problem with "oil-able" filters is they have a propensity to contaminate the MAF unit if the oil saturation on the filter element is too heavy. Stick with standard MB would be my advice. However its your car--- your choice.:dk:

We don't talk like that up here signwave. Disappointing response from some so called enthusiasts suppose there everywhere AIN'T they.

It will improve the intake note - the car will be slightly louder and more 'throaty' at full throttle from low rev - not bad actually - and will pay itself back if you keep the car long enough (otherwise new paper air filter is required every 4 years). MAF will not be an issue if the K&Ns are properly maintained, there's a special oil to use (sparingly) and a special solvent for cleaning them. Just make sure you notify the garage when you book the next service or they might put your 'old' filter in the bin...

I'm wondering what possible reason it would be needed on such a low power engine?

It will improve breathing but only as part of a complete intake upgrade including exhausts and manifolds etc.

Diesels make more power with fuel. Not air.

Actually they need both... hence why Diesels all have Turbos these days.

Remapping is the first and easy option for both Diesels and Petrols which is why the once-common 'hardware' modifications such as freeflow filters are rarely the first option these days.

Thanks for some really good responses. The main reason for wanting one is its reusable. But you can't get them for the blue efficiency c220 170bhp gonna do remap shortly.

Petrol engines have a physical throttle butterfly to control the amount of air/fuel mixture entering the engine, mixture remains fairly constant total volume/mass varies. Diesels are 'fuel throttled'...

The reusable thing... if you pay for servicing it'll probably cost more to wash, dry and (over)oil the filter than replace. Do it yourself and as long as you consider your time free and as long as you can resist the temptation to over oil it (did i put enough on/if some is good...) then might save a couple of quid eventually, K&N filter service kit is what about £10?
