Hey there, i am aware that a few people have talked about this before but i am having problems starting my 95 C220 D it takes 3 or 4 tries to get going each time it fails to start and i get the EDC light on!

The idea of it being an air/glow plug issue has been popular, if anyone has experienced this and solved the problem i would be very grateful to hear from you its driving me nuts!

It probably is just air leaking into the fuel lines near the pump or filter. The pump used on the 220 is a different pump to most and suffers with the internal stop solenoid sticking, which requires a pump strip to sort out.

First check the glowplugs are good and that there is no air leaking into the pipes.

Does your glow plug light stay on after the car has started, if so you have a glow or a couple of glows that have failed, hence the poor starting, but as has already been mentioned the 220 is known for pump problems.

No the light does not stay on, it did flash on while driving the other day for about 10 seconds but i ignored that as an old car blip!

im going to replace all the coils this weekend so hopefully that and checking hoses will sort this problem

Meant glow plugs, my mrs is a yank and says coils it rubs off sometimes
