Hi

C240 W203 / 2004 petrol auto

Can anybody shed some light - clues.

My C240 lost power completely whilst driving along the M2 this morning at 65 mph. My wife managed to get it onto the hard shoulder with the engine still running and no warning lights showing. However it will not rev over 1000rpm and stalls after a short time (30 secs).

The car is not displaying errors ( O malfunctions) and there is no obvious sign of anything amiss. No smoke, flames or banging/knocking.

I lifted the engine cover off and could see no loose wires or cables.

The car is now on it's way to Wrightec on the back of a flatbed.

try disconnecting the air flow meter and see how it drives

Will do. Maybe a dumb question but does a MAF just fail without warning? Has anybody had the same problem when going along at 65 then lose all power.

Sounds like Air Mass sensor mate :thumb:

Yes they can do, and the symptoms can be wide and varied. They often don't offer up a fault code or engine light either. As suggested, unplugging it can show it's at fault but obviously not easy if it's an intermittent fault
