Hi all,

This is my first post to the forum so please go easy!

I purchased my Mercedes c250cdi Sport 2010 this month, it has 63k with full Mercedes SH. The car has had a service A, B, A.

Based on what Mercedes have told me it is due a Service B. Ideally I would like to use a specialist who is based in the north west? This is mainly down to cost and also service. Can anyone recommend a decent garage in and around Greater Manchester or just outside?

Also as the car is still under warranty until March, how do i ensure i meet the requirements so that the warranty is not void?

On a side note I am also considering extending the warranty but in reality I only need major components covering i.e gearbox, engine parts etc which include the injectors which were replaced this month as a recall.

Thanks in advanced.

Mercedes are fitting new injectors as a service upgrade to 250Cdi engines, but only ones serviced at authorised dealers, so for now I would have it serviced at the dealer.

Sorry maybe i was not clear... the injectors HAVE been replaced this month.

First three years you can get the car serviced at any VAT registered garage as long as they service to Merc spec and use Merc parts etc. (Block exemption). You would need to ensure your indi is capable of updating the electronic service history though.
Bear in mind that if you do intend to take Mercedes extended warranty, that will most likely require you to get serviced at a franchised dealer. If you make a claim, they will check back on your service history, so this is where it is important your service data is maintained if you use an indi.

BMW use Mondial to underwrite their extended warranty and with the last BMW I had they disputed a claim because one service in the first three years was not 'franchised'. They did honour the claim, but only after a few days of deliberating and being purposely awkward.

Thank you for this, is there some kind of online portal and indi can upload the work invoices too?

Yes. As long as the indi has the necessary equipment they can update your digital service record directly with Mercedes - which you would need to confirm directly with your indi. They will/should also provide you with an invoice listing part numbers of the official Mercedes parts and approved lubricants used and a copy of the ES (Electronic Service Sheet).

Is there anywhere i can find out more information on this?
