C300d mpg

May well be the same engine but it's heavier car. Fuel has to work harder to pull more weight.

I should have said it’s ‘new’ to me, it’s got 25k on the clock. The CLA was a coupé and FWD, so a RWD estate was always going to use more fuel, like for like. It’s got around 25% more power, so perhaps anything better than 25% drop in economy is a win….

The other thing to make sure you've done is reset the gearbox. Plenty of vids on YouTube but if someone has been using it with a heavy right foot, it can cause the box to change up quite late

You don't have to do that , just drive around and shift up before the gearbox does and it will learn the other way , I drive like this anyway shifting up as early as the gearbox allows and so achieving great mpg .

I can get into 7th @ 47 mph .

Recently did a 200 mile journey in Eco and achieved 53mpg, which I’ll take all day long! 50 on the way back, but I’ll be happy with anything that starts with a 5…

I know this is an old thread but I picked up a 2019 C300d AMG Line Premium+ estate with he 19" wheels, this replaced a MY15 C250d sport estate. Looking at all the figures when buying I accepted my average was likely to drop.
When I viewed the car I specifically checked the average since reset, which was 55mpg over 8500 miles so I was pleased to know that the car clearly hasn't been trashed and can offer good economy, however they must have driven like a saint. My old car covered 60k miles and averaged 46.5 mpg. I do mostly motorway miles and over my first tank of fuel have managed 40.5mpg, which I expect to improve still as it's new to me. My 40 mile work run down the M6 used to be between 46 and 55mpg but I am lucky to get to 43 in the new car in the same conditions. Similar with my run to my parents which was always 50+ but last night was 43.
I did notice that, in this car, the slightest load tanks the economy to 20 mpg and regularly I see it doing 25mpg at 50 with no load but then 10 min it's later it was doing 60 mpg on on the same stretch. I always use the limiter too so it's not like I am on and off the throttle a lot either.
I have to put some of the difference down to the wheels too. 17" Goodyear Efficient grip to 19" Yokohama Advans will definitely add more drag and friction, I'll be looking at changing them to PS5s or F1 Assymetric at some point which Amy or may not improve things.
Overall I can live with it but it does make wonders if I should have just bought petrol for my 7-10k miles a year!

Since owning mine from Jan 23, I’ve done 27k and averaged 51.6mpg (according to Fuelly), I do a lot of motorway miles with cruise control set to 72mph. I change to F1’s and it made no difference to mpg compared to the Hankook tyres that were on it when I bought it. Biggest factor for me, seems to be the outside temperature, colder weather makes the biggest impact on mpg - also driving in eco with the A/C off helps a lot. I did a 700 mile drive down to the south of France last summer with 4 adults and a packed car, got 53mpg which I was chuffed with. Short journeys are the killer.

Put it in ECO for the drive today, 6-8deg outside still, 35 miles with an average speed of 48mph got me 38.7mpg. There was minimal traffic and I was sat at lights for no more than 5 minutes total. I use the speed limiter rather than cruise as it's better for control and normally more efficient as you can control approaches to other vehicles, etc. better. I can only assume that during the pre-sales checks they've applied the recall update which means it's not the car I was expecting and there's sweet FA I'll be able to do about it!
