C32 AMG Runway Run

Great stuff, thanks for the vid! Love the Lotus Carlton :thumb:

BTW, you can take the right hander at the end of the initial drag at around 105-110mph in a Golf VR6 ;) :)

Not seen a Lotus Carlton in years.
I remember Jasper Carrott owning one and raving about it.

Nice Marty thnx, was that Maff on the DTM?

Thanks for posting.

Despite the slow start the Nissan GTR managed some great traction.

The old 911 (air cooled?) sounds gorgeous :)

It was a good day. Nice to meet you Marty and thanks for the chance to run against the C32. You got some good footage there and your speedo cam setup very neat. What camera did you use on the clocks?

How did you fare on our run, were you pulling me in or not? What was your best speed in the end? I managed with persistence to match my previous persoanl best of 167 mph. I used about 56 litres of fuel on site at Bruntingthorpe :o

PS. An M3 (e46) driver that says he was chatting to you commented on PH that you beat him. Nice work!

@ wemorgan. That black 911 with the RUF wheels has a 993 turbo engine I think. Soon to have big turbos from what I caught of a conversation.

Yep it was a fun day although the weather could of been a bit warmer,The runway had a terrible surface and I could of taken the first corner faster but it was giving the car too much of a hard time and I picked up two big chips on my rear door that are being sorted on Tuesday along with new brake fluid again.....they are stuffed now and feel like a clutch. The first exit after the beams was just too close I was hard on the brakes from 165 just to make it round.

On my very last run I gave it everything and let the car drift over towards the trees before straightning up and that must of been the fastest all day....dont know what speeds I reached though I only looked at the timing boards once and that read 164 but Paul in the M3 said i was faster than him but he got 164 aswell.I havent seen any official times yet and I also noticed my speedo is only 1mph out...not bad.

I liked your Audi, its even more than a sleeper than mine and certainly goes very very well. For some reason nobody asked for a passenger run in the family estate:dk:mind you it did look like it had been parked up and a family was taking the dogs for a walk in the woods nearby:)

This is the camera I used for the speedo, nice little DV camera from maplins I also use when im kite buggying, its tiny so can go up attached to the kite. But I was very dissapointed with the incar video quality,I was using a borrowed panasonic SD camera.

C32 and Audi B5 vid of both of us,i spun at the start and then couldnt catch you.

And i made it all the way home then realised id forgot to take my false plates off

I was going to make this the last bit of abuse the car gets but we shall see when the next one comes round:D

Oops re the plates!

Doing events like that you need to keep the brake fluid fresh. Mine is due a change soon anyway and after that sooner rather than later if I have any doubts, although it performed well on the day. I do use Castrol SRF race fluid though, which is OTT and must be changed every 18 months, but I like my brakes to work.

Have you a link or the model of that DV cam?

That video doesn't work for me - says I need to login.

I'm still faffing with my footage and am uploading it all again as I wasn't happy with the compression.

If you are not sure of your best speed, email Craig next week and he'll let you know. They don't usually get published on PH (down to you) and it's been ages since he's updated the website.

The link should work now.

The camera is a MD81 Mini DV.I downloaded some transitions and effects off the windows movie maker site so you can zoom in, without them the speedo video was too far away and not clear.

Damn it looks like you guys had fun. I wanted to come, but i had to pick up my car from Ollys on the same day, wouldn't have made it tbh.

Marty, if you give me a heads up I promise i'll make it to the next one, provided I have my car! :)

Yeah link works, nice video :D

Good to get some footage rather than none at all. I was asked for four or so passenger rides, but our cars tend to go unoticed in such exotic company.

Thanks for the vids......:thumb:

Looks like plenty fun was had......i do like them new nissan's....covered the ground very well indeed.

Looks like Maff managed to hit the limiter in the CLK.

Here's the video taken from my car for the same run as posted by Marty above:

Excellent! Just looking at the PH thread. How fast do you need to go round the bottom corner to get Vmax (in the C32, that's probably comparable to mine)?

Edit: Ha! Just watched the vid - 'not very fast' is the answer. Impressive, and nicely done with the video.
