Hi, This afternoon i put a deposit down on a C32 estate, 2001 with 50k and full dealer history. Ive looked at a few over the months but this one is by far the cleanest of them all but one thing is bothering me Ive just noticed from looking at a pic that the engine doesnt have the makers nameplate !

worrying stuff or genuine reason behind it ?

No, that's normal for a 2001 model.

IIRC the plate only appeared on 2003 model year cars, so you should see it on late 2002 registered cars.

Looking forward to seeing the photos.

My 02 doesn't have a name plate.. (I wanted one but got over it quickly !)

Thanks guys but thats now the least of my problems. I picked the car up at 11am and after 4 hours of being pushed back into the seat with a big smile on my face it lost most of its power above 60mph and would not kick down above 60mph:( . It was acting like it was hitting a limiter and would not rev freely.

Thank god i got it from a dealer with a warranty, its going in in the morning.

It sounds like it has gone into 'Limp Home' mode .... maybe the MAS ...

You could always make a plate for it yourself with a Dremel and a piece of brass .... ;)

Just kidding , good luck getting it sorted !

Theres nearly always OEM plates on ebay.de, they go for huge amounts though!

Sounds like the intercooler pump has gone - it's only a matter of time on a C32 - once it's done, then you have another 40,000 miles or so until the next time it needs replacing.

PS No MAS/MAF on the C32 - uses an air pressure sensor instead.
