I have heard that the oil should be checked and changed every 30K in the supercharger is this true I can not find it in my service book ? is it easy ? how do i do it :dk:

I've not encountered this before. Can't follow the link above, but I've not seen this in any service schedule.

Checked many different MB site forums. The odd reference to supercharger oil, but that's during work being done to it. Nothing that suggest it needs doing every 30K or otherwise.

Hi,
I looked into replacing my supercharger oil in my C230K, and I came up with the same solution that it was never meant to be changed, like Swozza said, if it has lost any during work, there is a filler I believe but no drain (C230K W202), also from what I can remember the oil has to very accuratly measured as if to much is put in it can cause foaming, I decided to leave mine well alone till I ever had a need to remove it then I could drain and refill it easily.

At 100k miles I changed the oil on my SLK 230 s/charger (Eaton M45?); the oil came from a scottish firm via ebay.
170ml was the correct amount. The s/c needed to be stripped off the engine but it was a very straightforward disassembly; the old oil was tipped out, a small amount of new stuff used to flush out any remains then the correct amount added.

I can't see any%2

Its not a service item unless the SC is stripped.. i have some of the oil here...

Its worth checking it though as all the ones we have ever checked have always been on the low side.

Hi,
Was it much of a job to remove it from the engine?

The most common problem making that noise is actually the supercharger pulley bearing. I've actually just done mine DIY at home, took less than 2 hours if you have some very basic mechanical knowhow. The only complicated thing is to remove the old bearing and insert the new one - should be done with a bearing press machine. I just went to a nearby engineering shop and they did it for me.
A workshop should be able to do it quite easily within 1 hour labour.
