C320 air conditioning stuck on

Seems to be the case that the air conditioning is coming through even when you have the heaters blowing. If you just want the normal air blowing it still comes through ice cold as though the air con is on. Only way to stop it is to have the blower turned off all the time. Its a 2001 c class.
Any ideas anyone??

have you tryed tapping the solinoid valves (two cans near the brake servo)

Is the cold air just coming throught the center vents, or through all of them?!?

The reason I ask is that on many MBs (maybe all?) the center vents only blow cold air. I think this is designed to stop people 'nodding off' behind the wheel.

You should be able to shut the center vents, and test the others though. :)

HTH,

Cheers,

I am pretty sure that only the W124's and W201's had the feature where the centre vents only blow air routed straight from the outside, in most cases usually cold. From the W210 and W202 onwards the centre vents were connected to the a/c so should blow the same temperature air as the side vents.

I may be going mad, but I am sure my W202 only blows cold air through the center vents? I must confess to not having really used it much lately!

Anybody else know?

Cheers,

Will

On the 203 there are two diferent centre vents.

One with 3 dials and one with two. The 3 dial version tends to be found on older cars and with cars with the digital climate control.

The centre vent controls the cold air coming into the cabin. I believe if you switch this to the off position , you can get hot air through it.

Might be worth a try.

Maybe it was something that was changed half way through the W202's lifespan? What year is your W202 Will? My dad's '87 W124 200 and my previous '86 190E both blew fresh/cold air only through the centre vents but my current '98 W202 has the centre vents hooked up to the a/c the same as the corner vents.

I'll take a guess that your W202 is pre '97?

Mine is a 1997 model, but a pre-facelift (I think that is what you mean!)

Could well be. I have owned a couple of W202s, and a few W201s, and they were all the same.

I am sure many people who have only ever owned newer models will not have a clue what we are on about!

The cold air is actually coming through the side vents too ,yet warm air coming through the small roundish vent that point upwards towards the side windows.
Thanks for comments.

Hmm , those small vents are part of the demist button on the climate pannel.

Try pusing all the buttons to make sure none of them are stuck on/

My old 98 c180 without air con had cold air through centre vents. But my 99 c230k with air con, centre vents were connected to the a/c and blow the same temperature air as the side vents
