Haven't had the pleasure of a C350 yet, it makes a pleasant change to the usual diesel motors. It's so very nice to experience a smooth and rev happy V6 again.

This one is a saloon with Pano roof and lush Tan? interior along with a couple of the minor driver assist options.

Downside is the 20mpg average on the spirited drive home

Great colour combination. Looking forward to reading your review of this one!

Looks nice, shame the seats aren't cloth....

Is 20mpg that bad for a spirited drive? I can get my diesel down to near 20mpg but I am really thrashing it like....

Does the car feel that much more cramped than a 212? Does it not feel a bit lighter on its feet and a more suitable size of car?

I guess 20mpg isn't that bad, there is a stretch of dual carriageway that helps recover some 'lost' ground on the economy front.

It doesn't feel that much smaller from the driver's seat, and it is definitely lighter on its feet and whips around roundabouts noticeably easier than the equivalent E Class.

In the back it is very noticeabley smaller.

You'll love it. Not that I'm biassed of course! ;)

Haha, I'm sure I will :bannana:

Putting a 300+ hp petrol V6 into a C Class Sport in an inspired idea.

I love this engine, it was good in the SL but seems even better in here, maybe because the C is a couple of hundred kilos lighter. Funnily enough, I had a acceleration test from a set of traffic lights to a two lane slip road and unto the motorway against an 06 reg SL320. The result proved conclusive in the C's favour.

I covered a few hundred miles on Saturday. From the far NW corner of Milton Keynes to Westfield shopping centre, then the most painful drive directly through the centre of London to the A13 to Basildon and then back again.

First leg of the trip returned just under 40mpg at the end of the M1 and 37.5 when parked in Westfield.

Why I then decided against jumping on the A40 to the M25 to get to Essex in favour of the direct route I'll never know. Anyway, an hour of stop start, including 20 mins just to get from Pall Mall to the Embankment, resulted in the average dropping to 34mpg (still not bad). The ECO function worked perfectly and was hardly noticeable compared to the C250 CDi. At the second destination in Essex the average had recovered to 35.5mpg.

On the return leg I got bored and decided to play a bit. Result at the end was 32mpg which is quite an impressive figure for an engine that's only just covered 2,000 miles.

Everyone loved the Biscuit leather and general ambience in the car. My passenger didn't complain about the lack of space either. The friends I was visiting used to have a w203 and absolutely loved the w204. Admired the dashboard, overall quality, the many features to configure in the settings, the COMAND features and how utterly silent it was on the road. Generally amazed it was still 'only' a C Class.

So, I like this car, it suits a petrol engine too. It's quick, has a bonkers top end rush with accompanying howl, and it handles nicely indeed wiht barely any body roll. I miss petrol engines generally I think so my opinion may be slightly swayed by my enthusiasm. I could live with the fuel usage also, even a short trip into the centre of MK returned 30mpg. My old 320 CDi wouldn't have done much better.

Looks like its good on petrol right?

Surprisingly good! Obviously depending on one's driving habits of course. MB claim 41mpg combined. I didn't get that, though on a long enough run I'm confident I could match it.

Nearly 40 mpg is very impressive...getting more confused everyday to make a choice between petrol and deisel

Lucky you lol

And my commute to work this morning. A C250 CDi archieves about 10mpg better, my old E320 CDi would do 30-32mpg. The route is half 70 mph A road and then 8 roundabouts with 60mph stretches. So lots of braking and accelerating.

Looking at those mpg figures, it seems like petrols will soon be the new diesels, if you catch my drift...

Edit: having said that, the W212 E350 265bhp CDi that I had for a month would do 50mpg on a run without trying too hard.

The best I had was 56mpg, so maybe the petrols are just keeping pace with the frugality of diesels and not catching it.

Sounds like you had fun over the weekend. I agree the ECO is noticable in the c250 deisel but I don't find this a problem on a 12 mile each way daily commute.

I agree MB's new petrol engine are far more frugal than people's perception. Also with diesel being several pence more per litre, the running cost between the two are tiny.

Also I think C-class is better pick over E-class. If only you need the space than E-class it is. But in others, the C-class is sharper, little more frugal, better looking (IMO), and the interior are almost the same, so you are not short changed in quality.

What the little image of the car and "lollipop" tot he right of the E in the central display?
