C350E - Switches to Petrol despite being 100% charged

my c350e seems to be intermittently switching to petrol on start up, if I take the key out and restart then it will go to electric (most of the time), but when it does just switch to petrol I have noticed that the E-MODE and CHARGING mode are both unavailable? anyone got any tips?

When cold C350e often starts in petrol. I’m assuming either to protect the batteries or to warm engine oil/coolant. E-mode is disabled but usually only for a couple of minutes then car returns to being hybrid.

Do you get electric mode when driving ??
And if so can the vehicle switch between both electric and petrol without any warnings displayed ??

These suffer with starter motor issues
Normally give a warning on the display with 2 cogs.
