C43 AMG Coupe

Not posted for a while as sold the SLK55.

I have just ordered a C43 AMG Coupe with the following options

Premium Plus
Obsedian Black
19" 5 spoke wheels
Black ash interior
Night pack

I have never driven one and bought it on looks and sound alone, kind of did not think it would be anything other than awesome, after all I currently drive a 5 series with a 2 litre diesel.

Has anyone driven one or have any views,

It'll be as quick as your old SLK55 with a different soundtrack.

I don't think any have arrived in the UK so far so bar the tame dealer we have on site that's driven a "43" in Portugal on a demo day I don't think you'll get any joy with that question.

I have the same engine in my SL (with 30 less HP) and it rocks, so I imagine in a C coupe with 4wd it'll go like stink.

Cue the resident forum retards now stating "it's not a real AMG" waaahhhhh - just ignore them and enjoy it when it arrives.

Thanks for the reply, getting excited, build date is 15th September so no sure when I will get it but the did advise 4th October. Hope it's a bit sooner

Why is it not a real AMG? Big (by the latest standards...) engine, goes like stink; it's a real AMG. If it was a C250 AMG Line, that might be a different matter.

My 2003 E55 cost less to buy than yours or Red C220's diesel E class. So no willy waiving on my part. I just don't drink the AMG marketing Kool Aid.

Apart from the badge, suspension and exterior trim borrowed from the C63, nothing in that car is AMG.

Not sure why this has even been brought up though as OP knows what he's buying. Typical trolling by high post count resident forum members.

Who actually gives a flying @!$&, it is whether you like it or not that is important. This debate is no different from the diesel head v petrol head one, whereby each side states the pros and cons of each fuel. Just pick what you are comfortable with and live with it. If you make the right choice, you'll never look back.

Well did not realise I was opening a can of worms with the topic, I can see both sides of the argument.

I guess that the engine is not made in the one man one engine tradition but other than that most other parts seem to be AMG (exhaust, suspension etc)

Ultimately it's 367 BHP car with 4wd and sounds like a beast so that's fine with me.

I've had three AMGs - W210, two W211s. An AMG is all about the engine, not about how, where or by whom it was assembled, or the price; big engine, fast car, fun to drive.

It's only a car; if anyone sees it as a lifestyle statement, good luck to them, but I'm glad I don't have their life.

The C43 AMG: big engine? Check. Fast car? Check. Fun to drive? Sounds like it, so: Check. AMG? Draw your own conclusions...

I'm in the market for a similar car myself. If you don't mind me asking how much discount did you manage to get?

Via drivethedeal and other brokers, I can get about £5k off at moment. I'm hoping to wait a little while to see if more discount will be offered once the initial rush has worn off.

I got 8.8% which was a few hundred pounds better than Drive the deal. Initially I was looking at a PCP hence why I ended up with a main dealer.

Got the price through Car WOW all 6 dealers quoted but only one offered a discount the rest said full price only. It's a good site I would try them again

Broadspeed had a better price but when I called them they said it was incorrect and would only offer £1000 discount

I'm in total countdown mode to 1st September and the car is literally sitting at the dealer waiting!

I'm pretty sure the first builds are now arriving so the press will get hold of them soon to properly review.
