c43 gearbox probs

does anyone have any ideas or have you experienced similar symptoms?

i was driving my c43 in traffic when i heard a grummble type noise from what seemed under my gear stick.

i had just joined the motorway so went on til the next junction about 2 miles and the noise seemed to fade until i came off and slowed down.

i sat in traffic for a while longer and the noise increased, i went across a roundabout and felt the urgency to pull over. the noise seemed to be aparent wheather the car was in D, P or N.

it took 5.5 hours for the rac to attend and they recovered the vehicle home. (sat) on monday i got underneath but could not see anything out of the ordinary and the prop shaft coupling looked intact and the box looked dry.

when i started the car up the noise is now only aparent when in PARK or NEUTRAL. when in Drive or Reverse the noise disappears.

ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

I've read about problems at 100k miles plus. Best bet is to do a search - which I suspect you're already doing given the other thread you've posted on. Sorry I can't be of more help.
