Hi Guys

Recently my C43 has been going into safe mode,
When the S button is selected and I try to drive the car hard. It will go into safe mode I then stop the car, switch off, then when restarted it will be ok. As long as the car is being driven normal everything is ok the problem only happen when hard acceleration is required. Any ideas:wallbash:

I recently had the car services I also had it on star the codes that came up was for the CO2 sensor which has been exchanged. The mechanic said that they do play up when fitted new. After the error codes were cleared the car was park for about 3 weeks then I started to drive it again now it doing more frequently.

O2 sensors do not play up when there new, due to it being parked up for 3 weeks maybe it just needs a good drive on the motorway, what do you class as safe mode? As its only diesels that tend to go into limp home mode.

Hi,
Was the new O2 sensor a gen Bosch item? as I have heard the aftermarket ones are pretty c**p.
You really need to get it hooked up to STAR and see what codes are coming up.

I would say limp mode the car would run as if it was doing so only on a few cylinders after the car is stopped and switch off then on it would run normal if I kick down it would do it again. And yes it was a gen Bosch item i heard that about the aftermarket one. I will be taking it back in the new year.

Thanks for all your replies HNY

The ECU is detecting a misfire so shutting down those cylinders. Possibly a coil problem.

The only other time I know this too happen is the MAF. Playing up also

I had a lime mode problem with a bank of cylinders shutting down once on kick down and it turned out to be the O2 sensor.

Hi Guys

Just to update you all on the safe mode problem with my c43 I took to back to the mechanic and it turn out to be a vaceum hose located on the intake manifould this pipe was not letting the right amount of air in when the engine was cold, as the car got hotter the hose would allow more air in and the car would not go into safe mode.

The mechanic (Richard at Gemtech in Romford) also removed the fuel rail and gave it a good clean he also replaced the fuel filter.

The car runs a lot better now.
Just wanna say thanks for all the advise
