Hiya,

Anyone got access to a MB parts catalogue?

Noticed a lot of play in my osf wheel last night, so it's going in to my local indy Friday - does the 43 have a different part to standard 202s?

Cheers :thumb:

Hi,
Wheel bearings for the C43 whether there front or rear are the same as any other W202.
Unless yours is rumbling I very much doubt it is worn out, just get it repacked with grease and the pre-load adjusted, I very much doubt it will need anything else.
A new front wheel bearing from Euro's is approx. £15, and should,nt take more than an hour to fit if you go for a new item.

Just re-grease it and adjust it.

Ditto - Textbook mehod involves using a dial guage but taking 95% of the slack out by feel is better than not adjusting it!

My CLK55 had full MBSH and yet both front wheel bearings needed slight adjustment. Has been fine ever since :)

Ah, will have a look at that - had a quick shifty but they're not the same as the bearings I'm used to adjusting (VW) so I wussed out :)

Cheers guys

Hi Gridlock,

Just need to pop the wheel off, clean and then remove the metal (tin!) dust cap from the centre and there's adjusting nut with an hex-bolt locking clamp on it.

Slacken the hex bolt and adjust the bearing as you would normally. IIRC the MB spec is very low for free play - something like 0.01-0.02mm IIRC but as I'm sure you'll appreciate, taking out the noticable play that you currently have will be a vast improvement.

You can always fine-tune the adjustment up to the last '00th of a mm at a later date...

Will
