C43 Power tuning

Cheers for that stats some interesting reading. But can't really fathom out the answer to my question. I am sure it is in there somewhere.

Just need it in simple terms :D

remove box = free flowing = more power :)

Something nice and simple like that. Need to speak to GRAV888 when he comes online to see how he found it on his E55.

Has anyone here heard GRAV's car. Is it a lot louder?

It will be freer flowing so theoretically a bit more power under acceleration, though could cause rough idling etc.

I have been told by numerous tuning companies not to use oil-based performance filters on hot-wire MAF sensor cars as they 'coat' the sensor with oil over time.

Yeah think I will have a look see what other filters are around and give then K & N a miss.

Again another question :)

Any ideas?

I am also at a loss deciphering the info above about back pressure.

It's a bit louder, but not really much to my ear. Sounds nice.

Shaun,,,

I also removed the centre box in my car about 3 months ago and replaced it with a 3" ss tube, its a tad louder, but its a nice sound if you know what i mean and at normal driving speeds its barely noticable.

Only when you floor it is when that sound comes into effect.

It didnt give a real +bhp/+torque but what it did provide was a better response in all gears and acceleration.

On the MBWorld site there all doing it, so there must be gains to be made.

Looks like I will be re mapping tomorrow now. The guy will come and sort it round work as it was peeing it down tonight. Not ideal conditions to be playing with an ECU.

Get my price for the straight through tomorrow. been down and measured up.

I take it the 2 cans at the front of the pic are the CATS.

Yep.
Lose the single one you can see in the pic.
If you get too steep a price, let me know and Alan will do it for you if you want to spend the day down here.

Hey hey hey, Im all chipped up :D

Quick drive seems to be running smoother and more responsive.

Just got to put some proper petrol in it now though and see what difference that makes.

Anyone use Total Excellium??
