you guys who did this mod swapping engines and getting a w202 C55 b-stard, what did you do with the c43 engine when the mod was done?
you still have the engine at home or did you sell it as a lump of scrap metal?

does anyone want to buy a small block m113 engine nowadays?

it's seems to be a fun project swapping engines but what to do with the old engine?

Ebay it , someone will buy it for sure

I haven't done a conversion yet, need to source a good engine first.
seen on german fleabay, same sellers trying to sell their c43 engines w/o any luck, seems to be difficult?

I guess C43 wasn't a massive hit like C36 compared between both engines?

I'd keep it as a spare, and originality/resale etc if needed - unless you got offered good money for it (unlikely!)

funny thing about this type of mod is that it won't be any matching numbers like on old muscle car or the mileage won't be the same if the new engine didn't cover the same mileage as the rest of the car.

If renovating the engine to new specs it might be ok but adding an e55 engine with more mileage and the body has less is it good or bad for the history of the specific car??

M113s don't really wear out - and mileage is not a specific indicator of quality/condition. So a good 5.4 M113 is a good engine, I wouldn't get too hung up over the numbers on an odometer - doesn't guarantee anything.

All I was saying was that if you only get offered a small amount back for the old 4.3 lump I would keep it in case a future owner wants the original capacity engine, and/or as a spare for original spec. 5.4 engines are pretty cheap to buy so I can't see a 4.3 being worth fortunes.

maybe in the future I might do this mod?
In Sweden salvage yards selling high mileage e55 engines from a £1000 up to £4000 pounds for a fair mileage engine, prices are steep for used AMG engines here in Sweden!!

Difficult to find here and on e-bay Deutschland, prices look rather steep...

I did notice that MB Factory sell second hand M113 5.4 engines. Didn't know they where in that kind of business :thumb:

You could buy a couple of complete W210 E55 cars for the upper range of your prices in the UK :)

5.4 engines can be found for under £1000 if you are patient, or a complete sound/usable but cosmetically rusty W210 E55 can be found for around £2000 or thereabouts.

You guys over there are very lucky. Now that would be a good idea to buy a rusty 55 and bring it over here and break for parts ;) Don't know about import duties thought...

You don`t have to pay any duty if you`re breaking the car,do you?
