E63s AMG
We have a c43 AMG coupe on order for august build. Can anyone here educate us on its origins ?
is it built in Bremen or Stuttgart or elsewhere ?
does the drivetrain (gearbox /engine) get built in the same factory ?
does any part of the c43 get made at Affalterbach ? For instance does the chassis or engine get worked on at AMG before delivery to the C class factory or after or not at all.

Any information on the manufacturing process would be of interest . Thanks

The engine will be built in Affenbach, taking roughly 3 to 4 hours to be constructed. It is then shipped to Bremmen where the car is constructed from parts made at other facilities and by other manufacturers.

Here is a somewhat dull link showing the factory and C Class production as it happens.

Thanks Legacy360 but I am not sure that is correct. According to wikipedia all AMG engines - with the exception of the "43" M276 3.0 L V6 Bi-Turbo engine - are hand built using a "one man, one engine" philosophy at the current AMG plant in Affalterbach.
So for the C43 are the AMG engine , brake and suspension and exhaust parts fitted in Bremen, or does the part finished chassis get transported to AMG in Affalterbach for final assembly ?

I believe the parts are shipped to Bremen for assembly. Cars are not assembled in Affalterbach. It is an engine building facility.

I believe that wiki comment should read something like:

All AMG engines are built at the current AMG plant in Affalterbach, with most being built using a "one man, one engine" philosophy, with the exception of the "43" M276 which is NOT hand built using that one man, one engine philosophy.

Affalterbach is an engine manufacturing plant, and does not assemble cars

As Mike suggests, only the V8 and V12 AMG engines are built at Affalterbach. The V6/I6 and I4 engines are not. They don’t build cars or chassis there either.

They do also have a workshop for bespoke modifications, but those cars have already been built in a factory, and shipped or driven to Affalterbach. Super expensive too!

The single letter in the middle of the VIN identifies the factory.

E.g.:

R - East London plant in South Africa

A - Sindelfingen plant in Germay

Etc.

There's a full list in various places on the Internet.
