Help Please

The front sidelights do not come on on my C55.

All the other lights work fine both in Auto and manual.

I have replaced both bulbs. Switched the ignition on and off. Tried another set of bulbs. I have also cleaned the contacts and bent them in for a good fit? I have also checked all the connections, which look fine.

I can find no fuse for the sidelights.. Is there a fuse? Is this a programmable function?

Any clues why just the sidelights should not work?

I have found a black earth which is bolted to the chassis member behind the fron N/S headlight. The end of this earth is not connected to anything and I can find no obvoius point where it would go. The lead is only about 10" long so cannot go far.

Any clues greatly appreciated.

Regards

Bruce

Checked the bulb holders

Hi

I have ruled out the bulb holders. 1. They look ok not singed or burnt. I cleaned and adjusted the contacts.

I have checked the voltage at the front bulb holders. Both sides show only 2.5v with the lights switched on. I can see no obvious tampering with wiring or lights that would suggest that somebody has played with the wiring circuit.

I also get no bulb failure warning even if I try putting in LED's (which also do not light up)

The rears are working just fine.

I have checked every fuse in the engine bay - dashboard and boot - all OK

The computer says "No Malfunctions"

Now getting desperate. Any thoughts or suggestions.

What an odd fault.

Needs plugging in really.

DRL Settings ?

OK

I have now checked every fuse in the car including inserting a good fuse into any empty sockets, turning on/off ignition etc. Nothing changed.

I am thinking that this is a setting to do with Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

Is it possible that the car has been programmed to have no front sidelights?

Is there a DRL relay or specific fuse? Where is it located. Can STAR change DRL settings.

I just want my front sidelights to come on like everybody else's do

OK

The car was plugged in. No errors found. You can switch the headlights on and off with STAR but the front sidelights still do not come on and no error is thrown at the dashboard.

The garage are thinking front SAM ? But are concerned that we see no errors on STAR or on the car.

What about the switch itself?

Well... It was the front SAM that caused the problem.

Many Thanks...
