Several of the C55 owners on the MB US forum have removed their exhaust resonators. Has anyone here any experience of doing this in the UK? Are there good reasons why it should or shouldn't be done?

Thanks

Trando

I removed my centre resonators on my old W210 E55 and put in straight pipes. Made it a bit louder as I found the car quiet. As far as I know there is virtually no increase in HP in doing this. Its just for the sound.

Secondary cat and resonator deletion is fairly common on the C43, it sort of appeals (V8!) but would want to know more first (especially about how reversible it is).

Let us know what you find...

Centre box replaced with straight-through pipe on my SL as well. It only made a slight (but worthwhile) difference in volume.

Any exhaust shop will do it. I got mine done at long life exhausts

Yup ditto, I had the mod done by Longlife Exhausts in Wallington (fabricate & fit stainless steel 'Y' section to replace centre muffler). £129 and done in about 90 mins while I waited.

I think my mind's made up then - I'll be all scientific and get some before/after video for here too.

I guess my local powerflow agent in St Albans is a good starting point - have done a good job for me in the past.
