C63 AMG Saloon 507 Edition

Drive it in manual with TC full off.
Maybe it's the placebo effect but this feel faster than when driving with it on or partial on.

Will do mate , as soon as this bloody rain stops !!

Excellent choice!!
I've enjoyed my 507 for two years now. It's covered 25k miles at an average of 21.6 mpg. I'm on to my third set of tyres (front & back) but the pads and discs are still the originals....

Sorry about taking the thread off at a tangent, but I can't send MPs yet!

Hi Alex (?) do you still have your 507 estate?. If so, have you had any problems with it?

Thanks

Oscar, Yes I still have the 507, now for over three years and 34k miles. Only problems was a lose but of trim around the sunroof and some rattles from the dashboard....mechanically the car has been faultless. It's just a great car and for me the best combination of practicality and performance

Thanks for this.

Are there any photos of your car on the forum.

I've seen a couple of 507 estates and I really like them.

Thanks

Well I have tried two already but found them to be in quite basic spec compared to mine's so I didn't buy either.

I have to say that they felt very different to mine to drive though. Mine has a torque convertor so I expected the gears to feel different, but the suspension felt noticeably different as well. If I could find a nice one with a good spec and history I could really be tempted.

Actually no, the car was completely stock, I have fitted a Quaife LSD, that incidentally I got as part of a group buy from this forum :-)
I see here the discussions about car extras. To be honest I don't miss them; the push button start, upgraded stereo, reversing camera etc but I do little town driving were these things would be nicer to have.

I don't know if you bought your car new, but this does appear to be the norm with the 507 estates I have seen. Stock spec or very few extras.

Have you ever checked to see what power it produces? It looks really nice in the photo.

I did buy the car new. When I decided to buy a standard C63 estate I sat down with dealer looking at the options - the cancelled order build slots did not have what I was looking for. But to order a car with the exact spec I wanted had a 6 months wait. So I left pretty downhearted. The deal then called back a week later saying another option had come up, and that was a unregistered 507 estate in the Birmingham dealers that was available if my dealer swapped it for their coupe. It was basic spec, but the colour I wanted and crucially it could be mine in 2 weeks! So I jumped at the chance and haven't regretted it one bit.

Forgot to say that no I've never had the power output checked. If I was going to get it tinned or the exhaust upgraded I would. I have a funny feeling that once you start by getting your car on a rolling road it's almost inevitable that the modifications start.....

I suspect that you are right about once you get interested in how much power you have you want more.

Do you still have a warranty on it ?

Yes, I took out an additional warranty and also a service package. I don't expect any problems but it seems prudent.....

Thanks again for your reply. I hope you don't mind me asking questions about your car, I'm trying to learn more about the cars fitted with the 507 options.

Would I be correct in thinking that the 507 option, in effect, replaced the ppp option? Do 507 models have the red calipers and two piece rotors that the ppp came with and do all 507 have 19 inch wheels?

I've also seen a video of a 507 with the facility to show a display of the power and torque being used on the info screen, is this standard? Does your car also have an AMG switch on the centre consul? I'm sure that I've seen this in a film somewhere. I think this switch is used to bring up different information onto the screen?

Thanks again.

507 replaced the ppp option, but lost LSD as standard. Does have composite discs and red calipers. It's the rear discs that are particularly expensive to replace, I think due to limited production as being unique for this model - unlike the fronts.

Most have silver forged 19" alloys (black is an option). 18" 5-spoke alloys were a 'no-cost' option, though I've read there were some supplied with them due to difficulty sourcing the unique 19s

The power and torque is the performance media pack. Not standard, and a fairly costly option. I think the AMG switch is part of this package (it's not on my 507).

There are some other cosmetic details (slightly darkened lights front and rear), black mirrors and grill, badge on alcantara gear lever etc that are very nice touches IMO, but you probably wouldn't miss them if you never had them

Are the door cards and seat trims the same as the standard car? I've seen pictures of door cards with what appears to be different stitching and possibly different material to what I've seen in standard cars.

From what I have read the lsd was part of the pp but it was not part of the ppp. The lsd in my 2011 ppp car was an extra.

Hi Mark

What colour and spec is your 507 estate, does it have many or any extras?

The standard 507 trim cards are high gloss black (like the pp/ppp?), though I'm lucky enough to have the only other option carbon fibre - which really I enjoy looking at every time I get in!

Mines silver with black alloys. I would have liked the matt grey special order finish - but I'm not complaining! Also has a few other minor options (DAB, Illuminated sills, lighting pack).

Bloody fantastic machine.

Roll on spring, these greasy roads are challenging for traction!
