How cheap can these things get, they must be trying to use up the engines - in a few years the glut hitting the market will be huge.

Latest deal is.

Mercedes Benz C63 AMG MCT7 Speed Shift Coupe
+ 18" AMG alloy wheels
+ Command online
+ AMG exterior styling & suspension
+ AMG sports exhaust with quad tailpipes
+ Sunroof - Bluetooth
+ AMG nappa leather upholstery
+ Parktronic with parking guidance
+ 2 years - Business contract
+ From only £437.99 + Vat per month

4 door is even cheaper

Only £437.99 + Vat per month.

Just noticed this - new engine so its not a deal to use up 6.2 engines its just a stonking deal

Mercedes Benz E63 AMG 5.4 V8 MCT7 Speed Shift Saloon
+ 19" AMG 10 spoke alloy wheels
+ Command online & Bluetooth
+ Panoramic roof
+ LED lights
+ Parktronic with active park assist
+ AMG nappa leather interior with sports seats
+ AMG sports exhaust
+ 2 years - Business & Personal contract
+ From only £478.99 + Vat per month

My choice!!

Niche car leasing if anyone's interested - no affiliation just amazed

How else are they going to get people to take them, the market for large engined petrol cars is dead.

That E63 sounds tempting though.

Nice how they show the spec which is all standard options :-)

What's the deposit size?

It's not just big engine Mercedes that are showing good lease prices, there have been amazing deals across 220's, 250's etc for months - so relative to the big engined cars.

Had an interesting discussion about this the other day with Charles Morgan. While the big German companies can borrow at miniscule interest rates these lease deals will continue - it shifts metal and "benefits everybody". As soon as the residuals are forecast to drop below a certain point they'll disappear overnight

Two lines converging on a graph three years in the future - where they cross, if it's before the lease is up, the deal ends

Of course that's my simplistic take on it. In reality it'll be far more complex and a lot more brutal

I suspect the crash for big-engined cars will be awesome

Today I received an email of a lease deal for a VW Golf cabriolet 1.6TDi BlueMotion Tech SE £185+VAT (6+35). They were near twice that price a few months ago.

The market is saturated so the only way to keep the factories producing and making profit is to lease the cars cheaply.

Let's say a car factory gate price is ~30% of it's list price, so even dumping them at what appears cheap prices still makes money. In addition more money is made in the after-sale, so having a greater number of cars being used benefits a manufacturer.

It's not though, is it? There certainly isn't 70% margin on new cars. I believe it's more like 10% though the figures are obfuscated by tax, VAT and OTR charges

The sales and finance companies are separate and each has to wash its face. In reality the finance company makes the money

I'd love to read an explanation of the macro economics of the motor industry written by an expert - ie not me

I suspect "off" not "of" though that's still high.

Didn't someone post a link on this forum a while ago with the margins in a C-Class (iirc)?

Famous last words I know, but from memory the base spec cars were very tight on the % whereas the 'flagship' models were very high %, both of which are obviously adjusted for the volume of sales; there could be 50% profit in an C63 but they don't sell an awful lot, whereas they will sell a gazzilion little four pot diesels with a margin of 5%.

That lease price on the E63 does look very attractive though...

Article in the Times business section today on UK car sales being 15 % up year on year, against most of Europe seeing double digit decline. Not only are there very attractive deals as above, but there is big stock dumping going on by the manufacturers as I have posted before. They are registering a lot of sales themselves / pushing them via their own rental companies.

Tempting deals but 15mpg or 159 miles from the tank mentioned in other posts is discouraging. It would be very annoying to stop 4-5 times for petrol on the way to Berlin ;-)

Did you see the deposit required DS (particularly for the E63)?

I would have thought it was substantial.

you can get 20mpg on a run or about 260 miles to a tank at a push :-)

I got 290 miles yesterday and 25mpg easily yesterday.

Think I could have got 26mpg and 300+ had I not taken the bait with an S2000 ;-)

The C63 are 7+23 month deals and now £453.99+ vat a month for 10K a year.

Real world figures: Deposit= £3813.52 inc vat and £544.79 inc vat a month for business users.

I cant see the e63 lisited on their site

You dont have to be going that slow. My wife drove mine back from Edinburgh a few weeks ago as i was a bit delicate after a wedding! She is light footed and got av of 26mpg back to Aberdeen. At one point it was reading 29mpg. I have never got close to that! I got 285miles out of one tank coming up from lake district av. 80 kmh! Still had 8 ltrs left when refilled although range trip was just a petrol sign!

When I go to Germany I don't have light foot. And I suspect I would visit Germany quite often in C63 or similar car ;-)

I'm considering my options as I don't like my current car.

^ Thing is on a european road trip my E class cdi would be quicker, 700 mile + range means far less stops. (ok maybe not as fun...athough motorways are hardly what a c/e63 are built for?)

From what I have seen over the years doing these there are more and more cameras and at the end of the day a TDi, Cdi, type car will be flashing you out of the way what ever your in :)

Don't get me wrong, once I'm at my destination I would love one of these engines in the French alpine tunnels :)

Great deals, little point in 'buying' one if anyone does these days? At least this way you know your 2 or 3 year costs up front no matter what happends to petrol prices / road tax etc.
