C63 caliper colour change.

After getting some ridiculous quotes to paint my calipers red I decided to do it myself. I've only done the fronts so far as I ran out of time but I'm more than happy with the result especially as the total cost was less than £20

1 can if VHT red caliper paint..
1 can of VHT clear coat.
1 can of brake cleaner
AMG decals from EBay

Spraying is the easy bit. 3 coats of red and 3 coats of clear. It's all in the preparation. I have not written a guide as all I did was follow threads from other members that have done the same. I'm more than willing to answer any questions though.

Hi did you put decals on before clear coat? And is this the clear you used?



I've got the vht yellow caliper spray which doesn't say anything about clearing after but obviously can't hurt. Was wondering if this is the correct clear.

Yes I put the decals on before the clear coat and yes that is the clear coat I used

Cheapest I got was £400 and highest was my local MB dealer £900 lmfao

These look spot on, I'll be doing this to mine. How have the calipers held up after the few months have passed since you have done them? Still looking like the pictures above?

It does look a good job, but I would be interested to see them after a track day. My factory red ones had lacquer peeling after a track day, and I have seen silver AMG calipers turn gold with the heat.

I am not convinced a DIY job will hold up long term...
