C63 Servicing

Result, I had to remind my dealer who then said "don't worry, you can leave it until the first service" - idiots.

Seems like they have improved things somewhat since 2010.

extortionate service prices

i booked my c63 AMG in for a service a couple of weeks ago with Mercedes, Manchester – they told me it would cost £625.

it dawned on me today that i ‘only’ paid about £455 last year – so i have rang them again today, but have been assured that they told me it would actually be £680.30 (with wait for it - a generous £10 discount) they said i was sent an email, but i cant find it. was told its due an air-filter & auto-trans oil change, which bumps up the cost! which i fully understand, but the £10 discount is more of an insult than an incentive.

i also need a new front tyre and asked for a price on that to be done at the same time - £228 is the best price he could give me. told him i can get it done locally for £199 and since i was already having a service done and paying extortionate price for that, is there no way he can do it for £200. – He just said no way! :wallbash:

not impressed with the Mercedes customer/aftercare – lucky im still enjoying this car, but its almost enough to put me off buying another Mercedes!

But which service is it going in for?

£625 could be perfectly reasonable based on higher mileage / age etc.

Its the A0 service due on 2010 plate but I've only done 16026 miles! I know it includes air filter & auto-box oil change - but still thought it was a bit steep! Its not £625 either, they originally quoted me that... now they are telling me its gonna be £680. Not a happy bunny

Why not get a quote from a Merc specialist indi who will still service it in accordance to MB spec so keep the car in warranty.

I don't know of any local guys! Will have to have a search on the web. Was told by Mercedes that my warranty & breakdown cover would only be valid if service is done through themselves - but i suppose they're gonna say that anyway!

I know my lease contract says I need to service it at MB, but I wasn't aware that the warranty for private sales also ties owners to service the car at MB - I thought that the EU had stopped this a few years ago.

Sent my rant to mercedes uk on twitter earlier today! They have replied & told me to ring customer service team to discuss - so will give that ago tomorrow - doubt it will make much difference tho' meanwhile i will search the web!

From memory, the 1,000 miles engine oil change in the good old days was because cars came from the factory with thinner 'running-in' oil. Also, the engines actually had to be run in...

As for MB service plan, it covers all scheduled servicing i.e. A and B but also including 'additional items' such as filters and ATF change etc (but only if due during the cover period!), so can work out cheaper than paying for each service separately, especially for high milers.

The trick is to get the plan just before a service B and the 37k ATF change.

Just for comparison I've had my C63 serviced last week at Northampton. It's the first service at one year old and cost £225 all in.

Mileage is/was 6500

My car was left the night before and nice and clean when I collected the next day. I'm happy enough with that :thumb:

They do but it must be taken out prior to the cars first service.

well I'm not sure what i purchased then, but it definitely is a service plan and i have an AMG ;)

There is even a separate AMG service plan leaflet, and a section on the website about it.

My SLK is £40 a month for 3 years and 3 services.

Pick up a load of Mobil 1 at Costco or halfords on offer, and tell them to use it, the saving worked out at about £100

Have you recently bought your AMG from new? Maybe they have started doing them! Every time i have asked, been told they don't do it for c63 AMG! Will check again with them tomorrow!

Good news tho' I have spoken to my sales guy & told him not happy with MB aftercare & put off buying from them again - so he has managed to get the price from &910 to £850 for service & a new front tyre! So I'm happy with that :D
