Caliper split

Hi all. Had one of my front brakes off the weekend. Looks like the rubber part of the piston has a small tear. Will this be ok. Or is a repair required ??

I'd personally would purchase caliper repair kits, I'm sure MB would list them and I'd do both , I suppose it depends on your spannering skills, brakes not some thing to be overlooked! You could cause yourself more problems, piston stick frying your caplier, I'm a great believer in preventive maintenance.

There's the protective boot and the piston seal itself. A holed boot will allow the entry of grit brake dust and moisture which will eventually compromise the piston cylinder bore and seal.
