crankcase oil type?

If you are not using Synthetic motor oil (Mobil 1 or Delvac 1 are always my
choices) changing to it may help. After running Synthetic for a while the
buildup from Dino oil may have washed away and allow the hydraulic lifters
to work again silently.

BUT to answer your original question... The camshaft lobes lie directly on top
of the hydraulic lifters...I believe you have to remove the camshaft to access
the lifters.

[I am editing this reply an hour or so later]
Upon reflection...If you were to affix the timing chain to the camshaft gear sprocket
say with what we call "tye wraps" over here (Electricians use them to secure cables,
the authorities use them to secure rowdy Homo Sapiens) AND maintain the upwards
pressure on the camshaft gear so that you do not lose the necessary tension to
keep the other sprockets and rails in the proper gear/tooth alignment...you may be
able to loosen the nut securing the camshaft to the camshaft sprocket (There is
a key and key-way inset into the camshaft itself DO NOT DROP IT!)...
Remove the top camshaft securing towers per the FSM...
Tilt the shaft up by the Stern and slide the shaft out.
I would only try this measure in desperation AND would not suggest anyone else try it.

How many kilometers (miles) on the engine...could the noise be timing chain
slack? You can measure the chain stretch with the camshaft in place.
(I'm a service nut ...timing chain and rails should be replaced [for me] every
100 to 150 thousand miles.)

hi its done 250000 miles , i have a old engin that i might try an play with first , defanatly not diesel knock , its a ticking sound
might try full sinth oil first , does it react with old oil

Dino / Synthetic contraindications

1. None. Just drain out the old oil and refill with Synthetic.

IF you have any leaks with Dino, they may exacerbate with Synthetic.
