Hi All

I have a 55 reg CLS 350. Over the past weeks whilst travelling between 20-30 mph I’ve noticed a noise, not drastic, but sounds like something rubbing as the front wheels rotate. Tyres are OK and nothing visible to naked eye on wheels. My last MOT at the turn of the year showed the front brake pads were 75% worn but no dashboard alerts have appeared as yet, could it be the pads wearing down further? I’m due a service in 1500 miles so would like to check it then, or could it be doing damage and be checked now?

By the way, anyone had a Service D on a CLS or comparable recently, wondering what it will cost?

Thanks

It could be localised corrosion on one or both discs - Especially if the car has been parked up a lot during the recent rotten weather.
Another possibility is that your pads are worn well down and you're not getting a dash-board alert for some reason.
The little connectors for the brake-wear indicators sometimes get broken (or may be missing).
Jack up the car and support it safely.
Give each wheel a spin and this may help you to locate the source of the noise.
If you remove the wheel, this will enable you to inspect the pads.
