Can STAR do this?

Mine: BMW X4 2.0d M-Sport (Red) Hers: BMW X1 2.0d M-Sport (Black) Sorry about that...
There are a couple of niggles on my MBs - and I wonder if they can be sorted in STAR.

On my W204, pressing the tip-effect gear lever to the left selects a low gear, instead of just selecting one ratio down. I'd prefer it to just drop one ratio (like it does on my W163) - can this be done? (I believe that this happens in the "M" mode if you have a flappy paddle steering wheel - I don't)

On my W163, can I have headlights automatically on (even in daylight) - like I can on the W204 ?

I know there are a lot of experts on here - so over to you!

Are you moving and then holding the lever in position while waiting for the gearchange?

A quick press and release should change by one gear, a press and hold will do as you're describing.

I suspect that different models do different things.

320cdi drops one cog.
350SL drops to lowest ratio??

Nudge left, drops one cog. Nudge and hold, drops to lowest cog for best acceleration. Does this in both the 203 and the 219 (when in C or S mode)

That's exactly how my W163 does things - but the W204 acts as if you've pressed & held when you've only pressed and released. That's why I think it might be re-programmable.

Does it like that in my W163. Did it like that in my W203. Doesn't do it like that in my W204.

Is it a 5G - 7G specific thing?

Must wonder why MB would change the way it works, just for the hell of it?

My W204 is 5G - sorry, I should have clarified this in my 1st post.

Pretty sure MB would be unwilling to contemplate this, so a knowledgeable Indie is you best bet.

You could try contacting Comand, they have coded flappy paddle mods, they are the gurus regarding anything STAR..

Yes, because that's the MB way...

MB ATF replacement schedule:

Once at 37,500 miles
or
Once at 40,000 miles
or
Never ('sealed for life')

Same gearbox, same ATF, just different years...

Why?

'because they can' :D
